$525 would buy a lot of tools.

From Quadratec:

"The Mopar 83-piece Jeep Tool Kit (Part #82219119AA/68640356AA) is a comprehensive, trail-ready set designed for Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator, housed in a durable roll-up canvas bag. It includes high-quality, long-pattern wrenches, 1/4-inch and 3/8-inch ratchets with sockets, Torx bits (up to T50), Allen keys, and a ball-peen hammer."

And its only $379 on Quadratec. Ah, the Mopar overcharge.

Retired. Beach bum.
Like most everything else made today, it’s more than likely manufactured in china or Taiwan or some third world country. Way overpriced and cheap at the same time. That’s almost snap on money.

Hey, Taiwan makes some really good stuff. They are a world leader in chip manufacturing (which is one of the big reasons China wants to take them over) but also with cast and forged components. A number of high quality tools are made there for big brands like Hilti. Some of the best small engines and scooters are built there and equal Japan in quality.

Build your own, visit Harbor Freight and compare.
Here is a Dirt Road Cred video to build a
Harbor Freight tool kit.

Here is a versatile and essential tool
you may find for free.
A piece of pipe or tubing
cut to any length you want.
Leave it round on one end
to fit over a 4-way cross wrench
and flatten it with a hammer
on the other end to fit over
combination wrenches.
12 inches of 2-inch tubing
is a good compromise
and will be kind to your hand.
Slide it in to fit tight places.
Slide it out for more torque
when there is room to swing it.

So like a $39 kit for $380-$525?
I could build a larger/more versatile kit (and have) with tools made in the US, of course the value‘s in the trim removal tool.

In another life
when I was a motorcycle enthusiast
I suggested to Snap-On Tools
that they let me offer brand specific tool kits
in motorcycle magazines
to replace the cheap factory tool kits
usually found on motorcycles.

That did not fit their franchise model,
the Snap-On manager told me,
and added that he rode a Honda Goldwing
and had yet to open the tool kit.

It was worth a try.

On my '98 TJ, the fasteners are a mix
of American Standard and Metric.
Jeep was in the middle of changing over.
An owner just about has to have
complete sets of both kinds of tools.

Happy Mother's Day.

When I bought my 1950 Plymouth she was 16 yrs old and came with a pair of slip-joint pliers,
a flat blade screwdriver and an adjustable wrench (up to an inch), a ball peen hammer and
a cross type lug wrench. Drove her for over 6 yrs and never needed another tool on the road.
Oh but I did add a Phillips screwdriver to the mix. Today in my 2020 Gladiator I carry more tools
than I'll ever need, I hope, which is extra weight too, and most of my worries are electrical so
where is the all-around tester (?), add in some wire, tape, and don't discount the zip-ties they
can bundle wires or hose and make the socket set a SAE-Metric mix, if you can find a manual
buy one. My manual is USB drive so I'll need a computer to use it. Life was simpler when I just
needed some cigarette foil to sub for a blown fuse temporarily. I do agree, make your own kit
and Harbor Freight is a good starting point, you can even get a compact battery jumper to
carry.

I carry Icon 3/8 and 1/4 socket sets (come with a case) in my Jeep and bought them both during a 40% off sale... $168, total 102 pieces. Same with their 14 piece metric and 14 pc standard Icon crescent wrench sets, $156.

It's not as "catered" to the Jeep as the kit that Jeep is selling but if you have a bunch of aftermarket stuff that doesn't much matter anyway. You're going to have all sorts of fasteners and a mix of standard and metric. And I bet the Icon stuff is better quality at this point than whatever Stellantis is selling you, I'm really impressed by their hand tools.

Anyway, supplement that with some storage rolls for the wrenches and individual tools of need from Harbor Freight and Tekton like some 1/2 inch sockets of choice and a breaker bar and you've got a much more comprehensive set for under $400.

Oh and one or two big ass adjustable wrenches if you've got a lot of jam nuts.

I did go with the Icon 1/2” drive ratchet but I went cheap on the sockets. I figure there’s a better chance of leaving those on the trail than the big honkin ratchet. I just have em all thrown in one of the small plastic ammo cans from HF. I even still have the 10mm. :like:

Here's some details behind it: https://www.jeep392.com/threads/83-piece-mopar-tool-kit.2684/#post-47521

I think there's definitely a place for it and at a more reasonable $370 it's a fair buy for what you get if the guy above is to be believed. (AllMoparParts has it listed at the lower price as well.) There's a huge convenience factor here but you also get a bag that's just what you need with no extra stuff so big space saver if that's an issue.

I carry around a mid range Craftmans set along with a 19mm and 21mm for those larger parts that could probably do a large percentage of repairs. That being said having a kit that is vehicle specific would be nice so might figure out a price comparison with Harbor Freight.
