The Rubi definitely screams off-road whereas the Overland trim defines more of a classy but still adventurous look. I myself will opt for the Overland trim (if its not priced out of my estimated budget). The Rubi would have been something I would definitely had pulled the trigger on about 10+ years ago.

Overland more G-Wagon esq, Rubicon more Jeep wrangler Esq.

I just wish the overland came with the rubicon fenders =( I want it to be Jeep G-Wagon esq.

Also on the JL if you option it with a tan interior you don’t get the red dash.

No, that's not correct - you can build a Mojito or Punk'n JL on jeep.com and see that certain colors do not have the red dash.

I don't think it's a logic thing so much as efficiency. The parts that make YOUR custom ordered Jeep are in the bits n pieces added later... its a completely different team that cares what Shawn likes. By time they're looking at your checklist, the frame, body and guts are all put together. It's the same reason that you can't have them make a purple Jeep made to order.
I don't doubt what you say but a factory order I thought was more of a custom as in you can have what you want done to it that's offered or not added on to it within reason.

For example if I select it to have a limited slip differential or a certain package. They have to know the build beforehand for that. So you would think it wouldn't be much trouble for them to see when it was coming down the line to see on the computer it says "No badges".

Again not saying you're wrong, it does seem a bit underwhelming and it makes the idea of a special order not special at all. At least you can get below invoice pricing via order so I will continue to buy my Gladiator that way.

I also have changed my mind from Rubicon to Overland. I don’t need all the off road goodies of the Rubican and it’s a little to in your face for me. The only thing I will miss is the higher fenders.

I figure if I switch to a more aggressive tire on the Overland and new bumper I will be set.

Correct me if I’m wrong the Overland comes with 33” tires? How big of a tire could I go with? I think the wheels are larger on the Overalnd then any other model.

I would agree that it wouldn't be hard to have the Rubicon stickers optional on the Rubicon. On the Ram Power Wagon and on the Raptor they have the side graphics as an optional sticker. I think that it really comes down to branding more than anything else, and the Power Wagon and Raptor have several style cues that give them the branding they want (winch, wide body, lift, etc...) but in the past the Rubicon short of the decals in the past wouldn't have had much to make it stand out compared to the other Wranglers.

Now in the day of the highline fenders, unique hood, and steel bumpers there is more of an argument that the badging isn't as important as in the past, however once the trend has started it is harder to stop it.

HEY LOOK ME I BOUGHT A 60K TRUCK! BOW BEFORE ME PEASANTS!

That is what I think when I see all those stickers and stuff. Not for me, I prefer subtlety.

I hear you. I do agree that "custom" should be "custom" and a de-badged option would be a win... at that point though, I'm sure there is some marketing guy that says "we want everyone to see our most expensive version and want that"

Jeep wants to sell Rubicon, they slap a sticker on it, more people will see it and know what they want to buy.

And for most, they're not going to not buy a Rubicon simply because of the sticker.

So if the Rubicon JT didn't have the Rubicon badge; the tires, lift, fenders wouldn't scream $60,000 truck?

I'm not buying a JT to scream $60,000 truck, I'm doing it to feel good while I drive around. Could care less if the peasants are sad they can't afford one. I couldn't always afford this level of vehicle, but now I can. Go me!

So you do care good for you. ;)

Anyways, no without the Rubicon badge it doesn't look like it is 60k. It just looks like a Jeep with bigger tires on it. I am different. I'm not cookie cutter so I get that I can't get things in line with my thinking.

I don't need badges. I like to enjoy its capabilities without the pomp and pageantry. Yes anyone can see that it is a Jeep. Yes anyone can see that it is a Wrangler (Gladiator as a new model won't have this recognition to be fair). Yes it looks like it is meant to go off road we get it Jeep. We really do. The people know what Jeep is and what they offer and if they wanted it then they will have already bought one.

Also the Rubicon is 60k because it is full of useless nonsense. If it was literally a bare bones Gladiator that they based the Rubicon on I bet it would be around 45k topping out which would be fantastic. A working class overlander. I think there is room for both versions. No bark just lots of bite.

Now I will be fair here. I have heavy biases in the sense that the Rubicon is meant to be an attention getter. I don't like attention in my vehicles. Attention whorish vehicles turn me off. Mind you I used to own a BMW M3 and debadged it and added a 328is badge to it.

My second bias is that while I get why they called it the Rubicon. That is a stupid name to me. I mean just call it a generic off road package or something.

Yes I know I am picky when it comes to my vehicles and I can't help it.

Lastly I will say that Jeep commercial where it shows a proud 2 door just crawling out of the water onto the rocks without anyone talking is literally one of my favorites. No platitudes. Just stfu and watch it go.

I like the look of the Rubicon name emblem - I think without a name emblem the hood looks a little plain (I guess after seeing so many emblems there). Not that it has to say Rubicon … be it MOAB or custom names people name their Jeeps. I just think it needs something there.

I dont need badges either, but it's going to come with it like it or not. Free advertising for jeep to have a big Rubicon sticker.

What I said was, I don't care about other people thinking or knowing I have a $60,000 truck. I will buy it for me to enjoy.

If I see a debadged Rubicon gladiator and I think it looks better, maybe I'll have the decal taken off, but that's a lot of real estate to potentially screw up when debadging.
