Agree that proximity entry is great. One issue I have with the JL, and sounds like JT too, is that since the seats aren't power, it won't automatically adjust seat position from memory. My wife is < 5', so if I try and get in a car after she's been driving, I can't even sit in the vehicle without adjusting it first. With proximity, as soon as I unlock the seat starts moving to my position. But my wife also said she probably won't drive the JT if I buy it, so not so much of an issue after all. ;)
I am in the exact same boat. When she drives I dont fit but she probably wont drive (Shes not good with that kind of stick ;))

GET REMOTE PROXIMITY! How much is it on the JL?

I've never had this until my Pacifica, it ROCKS! I walk up to car with keys in pocket, grab door handle, car unlocks. Hop in, press on brake, push button start. Drive to the store, its fricken cold out so I wanna leave the car run for 5 minutes. Put car in park, hop out, press unlock/lock button on drivers door. Car is locked (but running) walk away, car beeps 3 times telling you, you left me running and you've got the keys!

Come back out, keys still in pocket, grab door handle, it unlocks.

It is SO convenient. Especially if you have 2 drivers that use the car. Each fob can be programmed to your seat, side mirror and Radio pre-sets. When i walk up to my Pachy and it unlocks, it starts moving the seats and mirrors to my preset, and the last radio station I was listening to starts playing. LOVE IT!

EDIT: OMG, its only $495. Totally worth $495 for convenience in my opinion. I'm sure others will bawk? balk? at that cost, but for me, its worth $49 / year if i own the truck for 10 years. Then when you sell it, its more marketable.
Alright, alright Im sold on the proximity, but really having a hard time with the LED's. I want them.... just dont know if I want them for 900$. It does include headlight, blinkers, interior lights and taillights. Is eliminating the possibility of getting a ticket for having a light out worth it? IDK!

Also isnt there a thread on the JL forum about folks stealing the lights off Jeeps? I have a 1K deductible on all cars so I would be out of pocket for any thefts.

If you select LED lights you also have to pay for the steel front bumper. So $900 for LED's and another $900?? for the front bumper.

The 2 options that I am struggling with are:

1 - LED Light Package
2 - REMOTE PROXIMITY KEY-LESS ENTRY

For the light package i live the look of them but also the functionality...they are so much brighter and theoretically you dont have the ever replace them right? I have not had LED headlights before.

And for the proximity entry, since all the jeeps are push start now there is no spot for my key. My thought was this way I never have my key leave my pocket. My fear is if I had to get my keys out to unlock the door i would set them down in the Jeep and forget to grab them when I turn the car off.

Thoughts?

I'm an overland with some options and with these it brings me to $45,100 out the door after taxes, discounts and fees.
A word of caution on both from JL owners. Early on there were complaints about a delay in the proximity unlock, the way they spoke made it seem significant. I think the ultimate conclusion was that using the remote start feature somehow confused the Jeep into looking for signals for the remote start and it forgot to look for proximity keys to unlock. Not using the remote start seemed to fix the issue. Sounds to me like a software problem that could be updated and maybe has been but I thought I would share.

On the LED option, most people love them and say the visibility is MUCH, MUCH better. The only downside was there were reports of the LED not being hot enough to melt snow. The problem is further compounded by the fact that on the JL/JT the lights are recessed and form a nice pocket to catch snow. Some people said during a big snow storm they would have to pull over and clear the headlights every so often. Not sure where you live, I do drive in snow a fair amount but was thinking about getting the LED anyway. Hoping for the best on it.

Overland or Rubi? The Rubi looks bad-ass already, the Overland needs tires and wheels to look great. But I'll never rock crawl so the Rubi is a waste of money.
I'm in the same boat. I don't need the lockers and sway bar of the Rubicon. I don't want the red trim parts and decals of the Rubicon.
My plan as of now is Overland replace the tires maybe wheels as well. Replace the front bumper and I should be good for a few years. Then when my kids get older I will replace the running boards as well.

I don’t think that is true based on the build and price tool. I did not look at the option matrix Jay shared to see if it contradicted build tool. In fact I didn’t even see the steel bumper option on the Overland or Sahara trim.

Hopefully FCA fixed this glitch for the proximity. I remote start our Pacifica all the time, and the door unlock works flawlessly.

I never thought of the snow on headlights not melting issue.....Do HID heat up more? lol, get the LED package just so you have a more correct LED/HID projector housing so you can do an HID conversion later to melt the snow? Man this is pricey.

For anybody confused on this, normal reflector housings for halogen bulbs don't work well with LED/HID lights and ends up blinding oncoming traffic. From what I read, you need projector housings to cope with this.

Do the JT stock lights have reflector or projector housings?

EDIT: Crap, i read on the specs page that the LED package comes with LED reflector lights.....never heard of these before. Probably some special bulbs you need and the HID conversion thing wont work. FAIL JEEP

Steel bumper is not available on the Overland so it would just be the 900$.

I will be having a manual transmission so remote start will not be an option for me. Problem dodged. Also, I live in NC so if it snows its not much and the city is shut down. Im from new england and know how to drive on the snow but we dont get that down here... Its all ice. No one can dive on ice. No one.

i'm posting over in our sister site. Guys are having to buy adapters, and have dealer flash lights if they decide to upgrade to led fog and headlights down the road. Sounds like a PITA.
Also quadratic sells the oem LED housings, $1,000 that's more than the led package which includes ALL the lights. https://www.quadratec.com/p/mopar/led-headlamp-pair-jeep-wrangler-jl

If you think you'll ever want the led lights, get it from factory, unless you're uber concerned about white out blizzards caking on your lights.

ok, when I did the rubicon build, the LED's require the steel bumper.

Edit: It's the steel bumper that requires the LED's

I would really just like to see a picture of the hard trifold tonneau cover. Anyone ever seen one? It’s kinda like Bigfoot, rumored to exist.

Thanks Jeepers. For now that’s good to see. I see that it’s for a bed that’s 5’7” long and it sells for $1010.00 So for the Gladiator with a 5’ long bed it should be priced in that ball park. Really need to find out if I must have the Jeep trail rail system in order to mount the Jeep/Mopar hard trifold tonneau cover and to confirm that a dealership really will be able to order the trail rail system for a Sport model. The build site does not show that you can get the trail rail system on a Sport model but I have an email from a guy at Jeep telling me that it would be available for all trim levels. Will find out early next month if he was correct once dealers can place orders. If not then it should not be such a big problem as other aftermarket companies should be able to come up with such covers that can attach without the trail rail system. Or at least I hope they can. One such company told me just yesterday that they think it’s possible. Anyway thanks again. Much appreciated.

My biggest struggle is heated seats and a heated steering wheel but I want manual locks, manual mirrors and manual windows.
