There are so many of these from different vendors, so I thought I’d ask for people’s real world experience. I’m considering a driver side box that I can easily reach from the rear or side, to hold some often used items like air hoses, soft shackles, tree strap, etc. the large items that are not used as much can stay in the big recovery bag. Here are my hopes. I’d prefer a box that doesn’t require drilling into my bed. I have trail rails and a bed rug, so hope there’s an option that could use factory hardware and/or holes to mount it. I don’t mind drilling through the bed rug whatsoever. Other than that, I’m flexible. If it locks, cool, but it’s not important. I’d actually prefer a padlock hole instead so I can use a Bolt padlock that matches my jeep key.

Thanks for everyone’s suggestions.

I started looking today for that exact type of box, and just happened to find your post looking for reviews on the forum. I found one on extremeterrain.com https://tinyurl.com/23hfshd8 or just look for: Rugged Ridge Armis Swing Case Storage; Passenger Side.
There are some cheaper Vevor behind wheel boxes on Aazon, but I'm not sure on the quality of any of these.
I have no experience with install just looking.
Not much, but hope this helps.

I saw the same one. I passed that one by for a couple of reasons. I’ve had bad quality experiences in the past with rugged ridge, and I figured out that several companies are selling the identical box. They’re just white label branding it for their company. Rugged ridge included. I saw it for half the price from another vendor. Thanks for reaching out. Maybe one of us will find a good solution. I’ll reach out if I do.

Here’s an example of what I think is the same box RR is selling for double.

Edit: Even cheaper with key lock

But they look like they require self tapping into the bed sheet metal. I’m not a fan.

Mount a Milwaukee packout panel in the space you want and use the packout boxes. They come in all shapes and sizes. I have one driver side by tailgate for cargo straps basic hand tools, etc.

I have some and love packouts. I hadn’t thought of that for this spot. I like the idea. Any pictures of your setup?

Watching as my use would mainly be for some of the stuff that's under and behind my seats - something half the size or less of what's been linked to so far would fit my needs.

I like the Milwaukee boxes but I haven't seen a good way to lock them to the truck. A cable lock still allowed them to bounce around.

The one for the Dodge Ram is identical in dimensions, and 30 bucks cheaper. I don’t mind drilling into the bed, but I would replace the self tappers with nutserts and bolts instead.

As far as using trail rails and not drilling through your bed, you could consider these mounts from 813 Designs

https://www.813fabrication.com/product-page/stainless-steel-bed-rail-mounting-plates

You would have to decide whether you want to side mount the box that you choose or make a bracket to go from the 813 bracket and then under your box.

@813 Fabrication & Design - any other thoughts?
How about my 1/2 panel for the Driver side? It is 20% off right now also!

I also have a few other PACKOUT panels that are designed to fit the Alu-Cab Canopy Camper, they are 20-25% off right now. You may be able to mount them in different locations.
