that's what i like about Jeep no two are exactly the same . you do what floats your own boat. i have RK 3" lift & 37 trail grapplers on 17/8.5 wheel . 5.13 gears

Nitto's.jpg
How do you like the 5:13 gears ? What is your top speed at 3000 rpm ? (the point where the the oil pump goes to high volume). I am thinking to go with the same gears. Thanks for any info.

Well now since the gears are broken in all i know is at 75 mph I’m at 2500 rpms. It doesn’t hunt gears it stays in 8th mostly at 65 to whatever around 80 it is about 2600. Some Bigger over passes it’ll go down to 7th And around 3000 rpm.

I did 5.13's on my 2014 JKURX (MT) on 37's and they seem kinda tall and was considering instead to do 4.88's on my inbound JTR (AT)... I think I need to go check the RPM calculations chart again...

I know that on my recent trip over the July 4th weekend I drove by RPM instead of Speed in order to maintain the best gas mileage - Keeping the RPMs below 3000 while driving the the 80MPH west Texas interstate gave me almost 16MPH.

...but my 2014 JKURX (MT) will tow my mil-surplus trailer like it isn't even there.

I went 5.13 because i tow my camper a few times a year, it seems perfect very powerful, but 4.88 i heard works great also. So also if you’re transmission doesn’t constantly shift it will run cooler & last longer.

Thanks, I think I'm going to have to find someone local so I can see and feel the differences of an automatic on 4.88s and 5.13s.

My turn.......

We did 2 today.

Stock 33's wheels and tires off of my 2 week old Sting Grey Rubicon, were put on to the also 2 week old Gator Sport S Max tow.

Rubicon got new 20" Black Rhino Shredder wheels gunmetal grey with black trim ring and new 35" tires.

I like the height, the stance, the look, the wheel colors.

I'm happy, to me its absolutely PERFECT!
