Trying to source a 5lb propane tank on the cheap. Amazon has them for $66. Menard is a little cheaper UT then I have to deal with a Mail in rebate for $6. Marketplace doesn't show any for sale in my area. Is there any option for less than $66?

I splurged during a big sale and got the Ignik.

Remember to price the adapter, and if you want one, a mount/bag. For me on sale, the Ignik kit (tank, adapter + hose, bag/case), it was worth it. Mounts and bags are super expensive for the 5 lbs for some reason.

As to the prices, I was pricing just the tank for my dad recently and those were about what I found on Amazon.

I splurged on the ignik fire box but didn't put much thought into the propane. Care to share where you purchased the tank/bag?

Sure, I just bought it direct from them. I think there was a 25% off Memorial Day sale which made the price more palatable. $150 seems steep; I paid 112.50. Looks like they are currently offering 10% off first order.

This is what I got as a bundle:

I was thinking about getting the Ignik Growler X 10lb bottle. What's the longevity of the smaller bottle? The larger bottle is double the capacity of propane. How long does your 5lb bottle last?

If you were previously using the green bottles, this is 5x of that. I've never timed it or anything but it is definitely great for a long weekend with room to spare, depending on your usage of course. I just cook, I don't have the fire can thing.

You can also fill it easily if you're low on a trip.

I picked up one from Camping World which I now see is $10 higher than when I bought it last year. I thought I was getting a good deal until I ordered the hose needed from Amazon in addition to the rubber edging. In the end, it was a wash from just ordering the Ignik combo from Amazon. If I had to do it over, I'd do Ignik all the way. Especially if you are going to be in the market for mounting hardware as I doubt the Worthington has many aftermarket options.

The real trouble I ran into was trying to get it filled. It seemed like everywhere I went, the minimum fill was for a 10#. ACE looked at me like I had three heads when I said 5# tank. I ended up at Southern States where they still charge by the amount purchased rather than "prix fixe".
