Is it worth the extra $$ for a premium soft top to be used only from mid spring to mid fall

Anyone who is noticing there soft top “puffing up” at speed take a few Velcro straps (stuff you use for organizing wires “wire wrap”) wrap 2 or 4 of those around the soft top and that sucker doesn’t move

I got my JT in October of 2019. The top has started to get really loud and noisy lately. It’s like it is loose and rattles quite a bit, started when I hit about 40, worse at highway speeds. When I first bought it, the thing was really quiet.

I wonder if the dealer would look into it next time I’m getting a oil change?

Maybe a loose bolt?

there is an old thread on this forum about warranty replacement of the top on earlier JT's due to the front panel vibrating and making noise at speed.

I would. I don't know how bad the standard ones are currently I just remember them sucking back in the day, but I can say the premium ones of the last few years are really solid and low on noise. I only own a premium and honestly really don't notice that I only have a soft top except for the day it was 95 in direct sun and was radiating heat on me. lol

I have the premium soft top. I live in South Florida. My neighbor has a hard top. I fold my top back daily. He's taken his top off twice in the last year and a half.

When a rain shower or thunderstorm appears, it takes me 10 seconds to pull over and fold my top back on. Problem with hard top is even when you take it off, you can't take it with you.

Get a premium soft top and never look back. Order exactly what you want. It took just under 3 months for mine to arrive.
This. You can't beat the versatility of the soft top. As for the "man bun" thread, there is a simple solution for that: 20 minutes and remove a few bolts and off comes the soft top!

For wind noise issuses, make sure the sides of the top are tucked inside the plastic channel over the doors. Mine got louder. I tucked the top back in and much improved.

Also can try to reclamp the windshield header bar. Make sure the clamps are tight.

I have base soft top for reference.

If you order one with a standard soft top, is it possible that the back window will be tinted? Looking at ordering one and says the Jeep comes with deep tinted windows and standard soft top but doesnt really mention if the vinyl back window is actually tinted. Dealer wasnt sure either.

20mins?
You don't need to remove the frame to remove the soft top.
Just take out the 4 bolts that attach the soft top to the frame, then no more soft top (man bun)
5mins max.

I have the base soft top and the back window is tinted. it's a Mojave, so not sure if that matters as the packages are sometimes different.

Base soft top with tinted windows on my 80th and my rear window is tinted too.
I think it depends on if the truck has the tinted window option (deep tint sunscreen windows) or not.
If the sides are tinted the back is too regardless of base or premium tops.

2020 Sport S, base soft top & tinted rear window.
I love it & the man bun doesn’t bother me a bit. When time comes to replace it I’ll probably spring for the premium soft top.

Base soft top here and rear window is tinted as well, everyday it isn't raining top goes back, most weekends doors come off. Would not do it any other way. Wife has a JL top hasn't been off yet, she does have sunrider though. Daughter and Son in law both have JKs with hardtops , never off.

To me I can walk out undo the two clips and I am done, go into store or wherever and looks like rain pull it back over.
