Way less stop and go traffic

I moved from a pretty centralized location with everything around and lots of traffic to a little bit of a remote location, so I have to drive longer distances to get to places
Better MPG is great... but doesn't offset more miles per trip usually.

Sometimes it means lower insurance rates, always means less risk to the vehicle.

They also last a lot longer with less stop and go. Engines last longer, brakes especially last longer, transmissions last longer.
There are times the extra miles give you enough better mpg that you haven't lost anything as far as fuel costs.

Give me the longer trip to town over being in the middle of it to get anywhere at all any time. I've seen the differences over time as far as vehicle condition and life.

I'd buy a used vehicle from someone who had to drive a bit farther each trip over a townie vehicle any day.

The little thingamajig that let's you know in real time what the fuel mileage is that you're currently getting has changed how I drive lol. Well, for the past few weeks anyway. I wanted to see how high I could get it. Was surprised when I saw 23MPH... Before I started paying attention I was getting like 16-18.
I was out on back roads in upstate New York in the Adirondack Mountains and this was my gas mileage. 50% AC on 50% AC off.
What are you guys getting on average?

Generally Avg 20-23 as long as I tread lightly and keep it under 75 on the hwy. Been that way since I bought it new 42,000 miles ago. Start mashing the pedal and it will drop pretty quickly to 16-18. I usually turn off the start/stop right after I start the vehicle btw.

Ecodiesel with 15k on 37s and 2inch lift and derringer tuner on max settings. Those large dips in the plots I was towing about 6k.

I've been able to get up in mid 20s and upper 20s but not with additional stuff I've done and added. If I remove RTT, dump water I could probably be back in 20s for MPG again. 4:10s gearing I need to be shifted to 8th and above 45 mph with sweet spot 52-59 mph, on I-state keeping speed 69 mph my best MPG's with RTT and added stuff 20-22 mpg a great day otherwise 17.5-19.5 mpg. strangely driving out of Houston TX I was getting really great mpg and as any of you there know the traffic speeds is way faster than posted. I was holding better than I'd had with stock tires and hauling nothing.

Just did a 4,000 mile round trip from south of Pittsburgh to Lake Powell Utah. Took I70. Overall mileage was 26.9. At times, I was seeing 30.1. I hate Kanas. Got my worse mileage there, 20.9. Speed limit in Utah is 80 mph, everywhere else, 70, to 75 mph. Missouri, and Kanas had the cheapest fuel prices. For diesel fuel, the cheapest I paid was $4.85 (Missouri). The highest was $6.38 (Ohio). The sweet spot for mileage is 1,800 rpms, or 65 to 70 mph.

Did anyone buy a jeep gladiator to get good mileage? Wouldn’t you buy a Prius instead? I have never looked at what I’m getting from mileage, and any due by of ever owned, I don’t care what mileage I get, I just like to drive a fun vehicle.

If I pay attention I can get my 4.10 & 35s pretty high. I imagine the skinnier kenda 35s help. My normal is 19-20mpg.

SPort S Max Tow on 33's no lift, mixed driving local/highway in and around Houston/Katy, TX. No matter what I try its alway around 17-18 MPG. That is driving around 65-70 mph except when in heavy traffic and local. The stop and go on the freeway eats up my mpg it seems

Drove from Florida with a full load and three people on board, and still managed 27.8mpg in our diesel!
