The "rig" thing bugs me. Most people who talk about Jeeps in the real world that I run into refer to it as Jeep, Gladiator or rig. On the forum, makes sense to mention trim since there's mechanical differences. But "rig." Rubs me wrong. Makes these toys seem more puposeful than they really are.

Even worse is everyone referring to them as “rigs”

“what do you think about my rig”

I feel the same about stocks and foregrips/guards being referred to as “furniture”

can I also ask that people stop naming their rigs?? Ridiculous!

Nope, I have a Jeep Gladiator Overland. That's what it is. That's how it's marketed, that's how it's sold, that's how it's badged!! (It says OVERLAND right on it, so it's an Overland.
It's a lot more than "trim level" - Jeep people seem to be really hooked on that bit. Trim level is trim. Overland has less wide axles, different ratio, different wheels and tires, and features that many others didn't used to have - and it wasn't just trim.
Springs are different, ride is different, payload and towing is different. Only Jeep people insist it's only "trim". Trim is door handle colors, bumper colors, bright or black "trim" around things.

Funny thing - my Iowa registration says OVERLAND. Gee, when did they start caring about TRIM.

So I could argue - it's NOT trim.

Man, you need to get into the Javelin vs. AMX argument, or the Mark Donohue Javelin argument in some other places LOL - you'd be right at home.
A 1971 AMX is NOT a Javelin with the AMX trim! It actually has its own VIN digit, and model designation in the parts books.
Hmmm, same could be said about many of the Gladiator parts, eh? Drag link - Fits Rubicon or Fits Overland but not both - then how could it be "trim".

It was just as bad on a trailblazer forum for mentioning mine was a SS. Well, my 6.0L and all the factory goodies may or or may not work and are / are not compatible with your 3LT I6L motor etc.

I like the registration for my wife's Jeep - the color says "limited edition" so if she robs a fabric store and drives off in her Jeep - they'll be looking for a Jeep Wrangler - color: limited edition.

Great first thread for someone who's been a member for 3 years.
I selfishly call mine a Jeep, knowing that there are other Jeep models out there like a Renegade or Patriot that might not get the same representation. I also tell people at mind's Max Tow model and explain to them what that means.

As the Owner of a Jeep Gladiator Overland with a Dana 60 rear and 25s gear t 4.56 plus a metal-cloak lift. and a tazer, it bother me too when people put their specs in the answer. oh, and Fuel rims and a Genesys dual battery kits. Not because I have a fridge, because F*** it, why not.
