Nice!! Thanks for the report! I couldn't find anything online about what bolt to get so it's good to know the necessary hardware is there. And thanks for the tip about torquing.
I am in the same position as you (factory steel Rubicon bumper and an Apex 12000 sitting in a box). From what I have read here, the Grimm seems to be the easiest install. But then, some people drill the control box, take off the fender to re-route the power cable, get longer bolts, etc. But it still seems like it is as close to plug-and-play as there is currently available.
I ordered the Grimm plate in Dec. Still waiting although I think they are shipping soon!
As I mentioned originally, I had ordered the Grimm but got an email stating that it was not available until March so I told them I would order later. Based on your comments and several others, I will do the Grimm plate and just wait until it finally ships.
Do you know what size the bolt hardware is for the Mojave skid plate? Also where did you get the license plate bracket?Update: Installed apex ZXR 12000 lb winch this past weekend. Used the warn winch plate. I took off the JTM plastic bumper and installed a OE Wrangler steel bumper and OE black steel front skid plate.
Issues:
Either the steel bumper was tweaked a bit or the frame was tweaked a smidge from the deer that committed suicide on my plastic bumper, but it was a little difficult getting the bumpe to mount easily, had to kinda work that out; kinda geantly’ish but it went on.
The skid plate from the Mojave did not fit the new bumper. The black front plate with the steel bumper fit but had to elongate 2 mounting holes that went to the bracket on the truck.
Other than those 2 issues, it was fine and will look great when I fabricate some covers to enclose the openings around the winch.
I don’t know the hardware for the mojave skid plate only to say I used the rubicon hardware that worked very well.
That is strange, I was able to tighten the front bolts without issues using an open wrench. Back were easier to tighten using a socket wrench.UPDATE: I finally received the Grimm Mounting Plate. Install was very straightforward. The wires do not touch the grill. The clutch handle turns without touching the bumper. Tips for others: Push the winch back and torque the mounting bolts before putting the bumper back on since the front bolts won't be accessible.
Is that the Mopar brush guard or an aftermarket one? Did you have to trim the winch's freespool handle?Wiring completed.
I do want to replace the hook for one of those Factor 55 FlatLink Loaded Shackle Mount in orange...
