No offence to you at all, but I think I’d prefer to try and realign the hinges as @DAVECS1 did before resorting to re-sealing. Perhaps your dealer checked that first before determining it was the actual windshield glass seal, but it sounds like a bit of a bandaid solution.

When I bought my JK (new), the first time I took the Freedom panels off, it was clear that the dealer had previously found they leaked and had patched it with a number of pieces of foam tape and caulking. I took it to another dealer who removed the blobs of caulk and made some other adjustments to the hinges and turn-clamps. That solved it...well...for a while. They leak a bit these days when there is heavy rain, but I’ve been too lazy to look at readjusting things.

Yup, they did exactly that - they took it for a drive or two and identified two whistles. One, they fixed, the other was my bedrock, which I have since fixed. The issue with mine was the seal.

In the end, I don't care, it's fixed, and that is what I care about.

WOW, I can't believe you are going to crack the paint on the hinges to attempt to adjust for wind noise. This seems insane to me. Couldn't you add some foam tape somewhere instead?

The engine will probably really freak you out. Oh and the fact I removed most of the factory suspension at 10 miles on the clock.

It’s under the inside of the windshield frame, and is not visible unless the windshield is folded down, and there is primer under your. I adjusted mine to to close the A-pillar gap on the driver side.

... I have to say the windshield down is something I could live without. When is that ever useful?

So I had some slight whistling at 40+mph on my LE the first winter, chalked It up as just the seals/gaskets getting tight with the cold weather. Their is a crazy amount of adjustment with your 2 freedom top panels (assuming you have a HT). Quick 5 min trial and error session with those (really just getting them lined up height wise from a frontal view) and the whistle he never returned......point being, you may be able to solve some whistling a bit quicker and easier than folding the windshield down....but then again It sounds like you specifically had a windshield problem (resealing the windshield seems a bit shady...??) just my .02c

I did the freedom top alignment when I first got my jeep. I really messed with them but no othing changed, so I lived with it for a while. Then when I saw the JL post, I noticed the leading edge of my driver's door was exposed where it meats the windshield. Adjusted it over and wind noise gone.

Thanks, figured if I am going to mess with it, might as well get it right. It is amazing how they let it leave the factory, better than the 80s but not 30-50k car worthy

Really not that bad or scary. Windshiel wipers have to come off, at least that is what I did. 9/16 nut and they pop off. 4 bolts along the inside top edge and she is down. Then just loosen the 4 hinge bolts until you can move the windshield. Kust keep folding it back up to check progress. Half hour work and I was being super picky.

I've stripped hoods, fenders, and doors off to do restorations. This can't be as bad as doing some hood swaps on 60s and 70s cars. I spent about an hour getting the hood right on my SX4 - getting the fenders lined up perfect again wasn't easy, either.
Patience is the key. Don't hurry, be logical and methodical.
Wind noise is one of the reasons drip rails are gone on cars (among several other reasons) and guess what these things have......
Any leading edge - door sticking out, whatever, will cause noise. I'll have to check mine again but for a Jeep, it's honestly not bad at all. It's no Silverado thick-walled cab, but still.....
