Hello everyone, I'm new here and I have just purchased a 2024 Gladiator Rubicon Mopar 24 edition. I have less than a 1000 miles and a few times the engine light has come on and I can't get it to go into gear. The dash says something like shift to park then shift to desired gear. The gear I've chosen just flashes. Pretty disappointed. Anybody else experience this? It's a beautiful truck but I don't trust it. I fear I may have made a very expensive mistake 😬

Check to make sure your door is completely closed. I could be wrong, but I believe there is an interlock that prevents you from shifting into gear unless the door is completely closed
I'm pretty sure the door is closed, I don't see any door ajar lights on. Also the engine light comes on. I sure as hell hope if I start my car with the door open the engine light's not going to be triggered

I sent a link in an edit to my first post. Similar, but sounds like the same rabbit hole.

A cheap $20 or less OBDII reader from Amazon would do wonders to narrow this down and to know what code got set.

Regardless of the code, you should still have warranty unless you brought it in from Canada.

It could be some other issue, but that is what happens when Auto-Park activates. The sensor in the seat has to detect enough weight to know a person is there, and the seat belt has to be buckled to get it out of park. If you open the door or lift up out of the seat it will put it in park.

I hooked up a code reader and it didn't read any codes, when I took it to the dealership last time they said it had over 25 low voltage codes. But my OBD2 reader showed none.

I disabled the seatbelt chime. I've never had a car that makes me wear a seatbelt and it was driving me bonkers. I drive the Gladiator without a seat belt regularly so I don't think that's the issue. I live in New Hampshire and there's no seat belt law. Also a bonus I discovered to disabling the seatbelt chime is that it cancels the auto start stop feature.

Low voltage codes will be the source of your issue! Sensors have to have a constant 5v reference voltage or a 12v source. If the electrical system or the battery connection or weak battery will cause all kinds of issues! Also open your fuse box under the hood by the battery and push down on all the fuses and relays a lot of the time they don’t get seated from the factory and lose contact while driving and hitting bumps in the road. So definitely check the fuse box!

I will definitely check the fuse box and make sure everything's good. When I look at the battery voltage gauge It generally is reading somewhere in the mid-14s when the rig is running. Any idea why I would I have low voltage issues with a brand new car?!

When the fuses, relays and JCase fuses are installed they aren’t always seated fully so it comes from the factory loose and with vibrations and bumps on the road they lose connection and can’t feed power where they need to and that’s when you start having a bunch of issues

How long did it sit on the lot? OEM batteries are not the best quality. If it is not driven enough to keep the batteries charged, they tend to fail sooner. If the system voltage is always over 14, it sees the batteries as needing to be charged. When the batteries are fully charged, system voltage will drop to 12.8 while running.

I'm not sure how long it sat on the lot. I have a feeling quite a while. So based on what you're saying I probably need new batteries or something else is wrong. Sounds like 14.6 is not a normal operating voltage?

14.6 is common, but not really normal for batteries in good condition. It will usually start out there and then slowly drop. If it never drops, even after a long trip, that is not a good sign.

I would suggest separately charging each battery and resetting the IBS. If it is not being driven enough to keep the batteries charged, get a battery maintainer to use while it is parked.
