2021 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon
I own a 2021 Gladiator with 4,200 miles. I always do all my oil changes myself. When I purchased my vehicle the dealership advised me that I will receive 3 oil changes with the Jeep wave program. So I took it in for it’s first oil change. After an hour they return my vehicle and I go on my way. About half way home I starting smelling burning oil and observing some smoke. When I get home I open the hood and see oil shooting out of the filter housing. I call the dealership and head back. As I was arriving at the dealership my low oil pressure warning light came on. Now I have a new gladiator with the engine covered in oil. The unqualified technician I’m guessing didn’t start the vehicle and check it for leaks and oil level when he finished. The dealership kept my vehicle and are attempting to clean it up. The only thing they offered me was a free oil change in the future for my troubles. Do they really think I would go back there? So anyone thinking about getting your Jeep serviced in NJ beware. A simple oil change they can’t even do that right.

My guess ... they over torqued the filter cap and fractured the base housing. Why jeep made this part out of plastic is a mystery? ... or just boogered up the O-ring?

Don't know that I'd call them a tech. They generally are students at whatever mechanics school is nearby. They are not supposed to work unsupervised, but dealerships do it all the time.

Nobody cares for your stuff as much as you. The good news is that this is probably one of the easiest vehicles to do an oil change on and doing it yourself will give you piece of mind it was done right.

Yeah,I would of just acted dumb and wait until the motor blew up,and blame it on them lol  and bam new motor.....

All jokes aside yeah I feel like they really can't do much apart from cleaning the motor/engine and giving you an extra oil change, but if there wasn't a catastrophic failure they can't do much.....

But yeah that's just my 2 Cents :D
