Birch looks great stained, and won’t hold the dirt of carpet, do you need a little lip at the front edge to keep stuff from falling behind seats. Just remember be a weight weenie my friend! ….Jack

I posted this in another thread but I think I should have posted here.

Has anyone seen or is familiar with this gladiator camper?
I like it.

I thought this was a pretty cool idea. The wood backrest folds flat for an extended downstairs sleeping area. The entire bench platform slides over the cab back seats and the backrest folds out. Still need to put on the piano hinge.

Very interesting concept, but without the ability to open the windows or any built into the sides I think it falls *just* short of the mark.

Comparatively: a fully kitted out All-Cab Canopy with every single one of the options available and a batwing awning is just under 18K where this is $20K and isn't as versatile. Not to mention there ins't a provision for an awning at all on this- I'm not sure from pics that it could even have one mounted.

Cool concept though and I hope they're successful. https://www.rossmonsteroverland.com/the-lagom-series/

Well it only takes a few minutes to take it in and out of the truck. And I can still sit four people up front, then convert the back to the camper.

I'm surprised no one that I can find online has cut the rear cab bulkhead and cap plus the front of the truck bed and a bed cap to mirror up and use an accordion bellows to make it weather tight. That's my plan (using an RLD bed cap) for a self contained/efficient deep remote expedition rig.

Although of course my plan would not be tenable for someone that would need rear seats (which I don't).

Great idea. The only suggestion I would make would be to weld a "U" shape structure to reinforce both the front of the bed and the back of the cab. In the passthrough picutures below, they left the upper lip of the bed for structural support. Without this the sides of the cab and bed would be weakened considerably.

Usual method is to sew little pockets for tiny magnets, or sleeves for strips of magnet tape, into bug mesh and slap them onto the steel door surrounds. Not going to work on the aluminum doors though

Something like this then? https://lunolife.com/products/car-window-screens

Could be a DIY if you find this kind of stretch mesh material

I like the simplicity of this!
