Growing up in Denver in the 60s, there were several went rolling down Lookout Mountain, Lariat Rd. Always a sobering tragedy...

It's a beautiful place out there in the Fall when the leaves are turning.
We went a little farther than we should have on a rental Durango, but prudently turned back when it got too dicey on a high switchback (not pictured because I couldn't breathe).

I believe this landmark has sheared off since then.

Lookout Mt has guard rails now, and I have personally slid a rear bumper in to them. Not sure if I'd be posting here right now w/out them.

Yeah, watching the video on a 24" 4K monitor i started feeling my tension rise as I got to this part in the video. So beautiful, but way up there on the pucker factor, at least heading in the opposite direction.

In CA, the CHP use "ejected" as code for "idiot wasn't wearing a seatbelt". Not saying that's the case here, but it's not a good look. Sad for everyone involved and their extended families.

Me and my Lady friend at that time drove that road ca. 2005. Being tourists we were in a rental although I don't remember what kind of car...Honestly, I didn't feel very comfortable driving it and was extremely careful. The Lady friend is still a friend of a different kind now so I'll have to let her know about it some time.
