Adjustable wrench. Ratchet (1/2 and 3/8) + 21mm, 19mm, 18mm, 17mm. Axle nut socket (35mm?). Brake caliper bolt socket/wrench. Bailing wire. Duct Tape. Pliers. Deadblow hammer. Multi-screwdriver. More bailing wire and tape.

If those can't help you, you're in trouble.

It's not just that. They didn't even finish or QA their own website. What must their QA be like in their internal processes?

I saw it too and looked them up. I had the same reaction that everyone else did. I see why they don't specifically list the tools in the kit though because if they did, you could take it as a shopping list to HF and spend $40 making the same thing.

Actually, I would be a little surprised to ask any group of people off road and find out they were not already carrying much more than that tool kit lists. I always carry the basics in the Jeep and on either motorcycle, and if I’m really going for an extended trip or to someplace where I’m starting to push limits I’ll always have tools, some basic generic repair kit items that are already listed here (duct tape, wire ties,…). It’s nice to have a ‘kit’ that is vehicle specific, but not with questionable quality tools at a crazy price.
I’ll bet some of you remember when it was common to carry WD-40 to dry out your distributor cap after water crossings or mud runs, and a pack of matches so you could reset your points. ?

Yeah, I think the kit's a bit spendy even for the convenience factor and is missing much of what I've actually used. Prebuilt kits lack what you need for all the after market bits you've added to the Jeep too. I like to include a decent electrical kit (fuses, multimeter, electrical tape), JB weld of various kinds (plastic, radiator, high heat RTV), and high heat tape for taping up those hot bits. Various fasteners and hose clamps too. I also prefer adjustable over fixed tools to reduce weight and increased adaptability, like locking crescent wrenches & vice grips. After using the Fast Fid updating my synthetic line I now carry one in each vehicle with a winch to make splices easy and fast, since usually the weather is "interesting" when I need to make a field repair.

8 sockets and 3 wrenches.

I can bet there is no 24MM wrench AND socket in that selection to fit the front lower control arm bolts on the axle side - which as far as I'm concerned would be something you'd want in a tool kit. We actually lost a control arm nut all together on the trail and had to buy and re-install it once.

I think that would be a hard pass.

But, I don't carry tools to cover a very narrow scope of possible trail side repairs.

When on a road trip - I carry tools to cover most anything, being a brand new truck or not.

Hell, some of the members here had to hand crank their vehicles to go anywhere...

Most of those things I already have multiples of, in some cases, 3 or 4 of each, so I guess I can make my own kit for free!
Just for kicks - I counted 3/8" drive ratchets. If I include all brands - I have 8
1/2" drive ratchets, 4
and this would drive the people on Kenny's FB page nuts - I have at least 10 10mm sockets LOL and just from memory, at least 7 10mm wrenches.
When my father was killed, I was in charge of cleaning out the garage and organizing for a sale and distributing things among myself and my two brothers. Man, that guy had a stash of tools. We sold a lot, I got some, my brothers don't wrench and didn't give a rip. (they don't even change their own oil. I guess Grandpa died too soon to get them interested)

Not QUITE that bad but I do work on and restore antiques and I have over a dozen stationary or hit and miss engines you have to hand crank, they have magnetos and ignitors instead of batteries, coils and spark plugs.
I was lucky - my 1936 F20 was an IH prototype and had an electric starter on it so I seldom had to crank it. RARE tractor, IH historians had never seen one. It was real, all of the serial numbers matched - block, frame, bell housing, all of it.

The only time I ever heard my grandmother swear was when I was trying to start a freshly restored Maytag gas engine - kick start. She came over for a visit and got out of her car just as I was kick-starting that thing. Obviously she had owned one........
Both the F20 and the Maytag's with gas engines came with with a small factory tool kit. I have a collection of some of the Maytag wrenches.

This is another -not cheap option, for those that are diy’ if a tool kit.
My wife picked this up for my birthday 4-5 years ago? Very strong. Worth the cost? I’m sure cheaper options are out there.

As to not hijack this thread I’ll make another thread asking for folks to detail what they keep in their tool kit.

The roll type is my favorite. Everything laid out, visible, no digging for one item that falls to the bottom of a box below larger things.
That one may not be cheap, but it looks nice, heavy made.

I keep the wrenches in my main tool box laid out in order in racks, combo on one side, box end on the other side of the drawer, open end in another rack. Sockets - well........my 3/4" drive set wouldn't fit so that's in a case on shelf, and there's more sockets in the bottom drawer, a few in the garage, and some upstairs in my shop to deal with the wood-working tools up there.
