I don’t off-road really, other than retrieve downed game or muddy/snowy lease roads etc. So they were fine. They are for truck duty, I’d look at maybe air bags if more articulation needed for serious off-roading?

What are your guys thoughts on running these +25mm offset wheels with a lift kit? Basically, all lift kits say they require a 0 offset in order to not rub the beefier control arms. Thoughts? I want the +25mm wheels but Clayton says they require less than like 4.75 inches of backspacing (0 offset). I know they rub on wranglers but the gladiator has 1.5" wider axles for the Rubicon, Mojave and Max Tow.
I’ve got +25 with Clayton lift and 37x11.50 Nittos. I really like the skinny tire higher offset setup.

@Plywood what lift height did you go with? Looks good! I’m in a similar boat with AEV wheels and was worried about possible clearance issues.

The Venerable BFG AT KO… I’ve run plenty of tires.

- on a mostly designated off-road beast I’ll run SS TSL Bias. On the road to the trail the him sound is intoxicating. On the trail akin to my XR250Rs knobbies…

- though as most of us do a lot of road driving, my BFG AT KO 2 37x12.50x17’s “D “ load range ARE PERFECT!
The 37 BFG AT KO2 fits no problem in the stock spare location.
Then on. The road they are quiet and great traction even after 40,000 plus miles. They are good in the rain and snow…. My JT carry’s a load in the back so I have no issues in weather with them.
BFG AT KO2’s will easily get 50,000 miles + on a set as long as “D” load range. “C” load will get you maybe 40,000 miles… and you won’t really notice a difference between “D” load and “C” load though “D’s” (D’s nuts, can’t resist this saying) you’ll get more miles out of them. I have 62,000 miles on my latest set of BFG AT KO2s and they still have another 20,000 miles to go I am sure of it.
Off-road they are so good in any dry rocky situation with plenty of contact patch, aired down with just the JTs traction control… ? no Rubicon Lockers… how do I survive… ? there are no issues and with the Jeep factory 8 speed auto, 4:10 gears, and my flexo Overland Falcon Shocked 3.5” lift??? No problem… in 2 wheel drive most of the time… Yes you’ll see 7th gear with the 37’s most of the time, so 5:13’s… and while I’m at it… ARB lockers soon. Why not while you’re in the pumpkins?

I an averaging 17 mpg currently down from stock Sport S 21 MPG.

The only problem you’ll run into for one example, TN slick rock… and I mean slick rainy muddy rocky climbs… the times I run into little forward movement issue. Yet, with my 10,000 lbs Smitty Built Winch that I immediately pull on these climbs I use it for its purpose. Again, no issues here!

so…. Drive mud tires daily, less gas mileage and tire mileage wear by 5 MPG, and 10’s of thousands of miles in wear compared to BFG ATs. plus they are NOISY ESPECIALLY AFTER THEY WEAR IN 20,000 miles no matter the rotation (DAILY IF YOU WANT TO… and who has time for that!).
Mud tires usually don’t fit in the spare location… granted they are truer to a 37” size than the BFG AT KO 2s. I haven’t needed anything larger than the 37” BFG though… I’m not doing any ridiculous rock crawling in such a long top heavy rig… I like the length of my bed (wish it was a 6’ though).

The 37” BFG AT KO 2s is a no brainer for my long travel, long distance driver Overland JT Rig!

okay small off-topic rant here:

One thing I really don’t understand? The comments on how slow the JT is. On the 37” BFG’s ATs with the factory Max Tow package (4:10 gearing) go away hater Rubicon Jealousy)…. The JT will easily cruise 80 mph on the interstate, hills and all (I’ve been out west loaded for BLM camping with same results in power!)

So I have a Fast car that cost a little more than I saved on my Sport S Max Tow. The JT had all options of the time (like winter package and I bought this 2020 JT in October 2019). My purchase of a cash bought Mustang (and cash bought new JT) with 21,000 miles on the clock, is a previously mildly stealth built 2013 GT base (??). I had Discount Tire (I get all of my tires here) fit 20’s and the best massive Michelin tires on 20 x 10” light weight wheels (it had 22x9 show car rims as from the Mustang’s previous owner) with the Mustang’s approximately 1.5” drop … discount tire had a great manager locally, he is also an enthusiast, made the square wheel and tire setup that I wanted, work. There is no rub and no I have fender mods… yet! This 2013 has a second gen Coyote slightly messaged (heavy build for more power) 5.0, Manual 6 speed dual clutch (not sure what brand as I bought the car used and P.O. couldn’t remember).
Let’s just say this car takes care of my need for speed… often 2 much so as I have difficulty with wanting to go fast sometimes in that Mustang! After working in the ER for years and as a combat 101 medic, my previous Ducati’s were just too hard for me speed wise, to not be stupid! I wanted a longer life especially after having my daughters, So a car it is. There Is only one for me… the Mustang S-197 2nd gen (because of the Coyote motor for one reason).

This Mustang has a 7000+ rpm max, with a 6 speed stick convertible, body stiffened Coyote Mustang GT with an intoxicating sound (especially with the top down) soon to have some new mods, (going for Snake Clone Sleeper (engine is coming out, with a few more aftermarket handling add ons). As I finish the jeep for now, the Mustang will get some attention. A lot of attention. She already handles a ZO6 new corvette with a finesse that astounds the new mid engine corvette owner… ? a Demon? No not so much but she will soon.

So, no I don’t need speed for my JT.

apologize for the highjack PP!

And back to subject, BFG KO 2’s
IMOP, you cannot be better for something you drive at least 50% of the time on pavement. Trust me, your family especially the Wifey Poo, will be happy with the BFG 37’s… except of course getting in… I always help my petite Wifey though ? , she still has an amazing booty (okay she has the whole package, she is absolutely amazing to me!). I’m just a guy trying to be courteous and help my beautiful Wife. ?‍♂

Got the same truck in Sting Gray, got the 703’s with zero offset and KO2’s in a 35x12.5x17. Will be going with the “37’” next time. Any rubbing off-road?

Would very much like to see more pics of your rig. Straight behind/front. Zoomed out direct side shots, no angle shots. Considering same wheels.

Got my summer wheel and tire setup installed last night and man am I in love with this setup!

Method 703 (17x8.5. +25)
BFG KO2 C-rated 37x12.5r17

Zero lift, zero rub, nearly zero poke. Side pics taken with phone placed level on the body panels. Tires measure 35.25” loaded on the Jeep at 33psi.

I do plan on running a Rock Krawler 1.5” spacer all around to regain the wheel gap and travel, but wanted to mount this setup first to provide real feedback. Rides like a charm and at full lock side to side and in reverse without any rubbing.

Revisiting this thread as I’m shopping around for new tires. I thought I wanted to go with 35” Mickey Thompson Baja Bosses but now seeing these BFG’s and Discount Tire stating they’re within 4 lbs. heavier per tire than my current Falken Wildpeak M/T’s (61.3 lbs.) vs BFG KO2’s (64.8 lbs.) seems like a no-brainer. How’re they holding up on 4.10s a year later or have you re-geared since?

I have the exact same setup. We did some off-road trails in Idaho last weekend with some pretty decent ruts and rocks and I had no issues with rubbing even with sway bar disconnected and fully loaded down with camping gear. I do plan on lifting soon because the stock suspension is very soft with the truck loaded.

Same question I have for OP lol how’re they running on 4.10’s? According to Discount Tire, they only weigh within 4 lbs. of my current Falken M/T’s. If the weight difference is really even a factor.

i have the stock 4.10s and unequivocally the jeep is slower with the 37s and my avg mpg went down about 2.0mpgs

If that is because of the increased weight or the incorrect gearing with larger diameter tires, I dont know. I suspect its a little bit of both. I plan on getting 5.13s installed in the next month.

My Gladiator is a diesel. I have not noticed any difference at all in power or mpg. My mpg on the way out west averaged 24-25. On the way back with a pretty strong headwind through the flatlands I averaged a little over 22mpg. I also had the Falken M/T’s before. These tires run so much smoother and quieter. I absolutely love the setup.

Got ya, appreciate it! Even with the slight weight increase, seems like re-gearing is inevitable and necessary.
