Another snorkel update:

Says snorkel should be available Monday!

Well that's sooner than expected! I was hoping to buy one right at release but I'm still recovering from my black friday spending spree. Might have to wait a couple weeks :CWL:

So for folks not trolling the Facebook groups, Instagram, etc...

$689 MSRP.
Not thoroughly tested with the Sy-Klone prefilter, so they don't endorse that combo.

Uses the stock airbox and filter which is a restriction. Sorry to see. It should be going to a cartridge air filter (donaldson high flow).

I work out in the desert so Sy-Klone is definitely something I’m interested in. Not sure I want to be a test case though and blow something up.

ā€œā€¦ We have not had enough time to properly evaluate it. On paper, the cfm may be ok with a clean filter, but as time goes on it may trigger a CEL even with only a slightly dirty air filter (as we have seen with some 5th gen rams). The diesels are very sensitive to things like airflow, so until we can fully evaluate it we cannot recommend it with confidence.ā€

I see the Facebook conversation now.

Not being a smartass but do you have any data regarding a decent panel filter on the stock intake?

They are using the factory air box and filter to be able to sell into California. It's a proper business decision.

I just installed the AFE "rapid induction" intake with plans to install this snorkel. That intake has a smooth tube and replaces the top box with their own and a large cleanable cone filter. That way it all plays nice with the snorkel, in theory. I'm hoping between the tube and the large cone filter the Sy-Klone prefilter won't throw any codes.

I'm willing to be that guinea pig, but as I said before, it may be a few weeks before I get around to pulling the trigger. Parts budget is a bit tapped out at the moment.

Likewise, if the engine is still getting the air it needs but simply throwing a CEL for a dirty filter, I wouldn't have a problem plugging in the tuner and digging around to see if that code threshold is adjustable, or even turning it off altogether. But I still need an unlocked PCM for that, which I do not yet have.

I just drove my Right Hand Drive gas 3.6 Gladiator around Australia for a year, with the AEV snorkel.

So that means the snorkel and pre-filter were on the drivers side, which might give some insight into what this will be like on the diesel.

For sure I could see it from the drivers seat. It's not visible through the front window, but it is through the door window, and it basically makes the A pillar a bit fatter.
I drive with the seat almost all the way back.. if it was further forward the ability to see the snorkel would be minimized.

So it's there, but only just.

I suspect the diesel snorkel on the drivers side for Left Hand Drive will be the same.

I can’t wait to order mine. The snorkel on my TJ saved my skin a few times (once on road ?) and kept my air filter clean. AEV fixed the awful stock suspension so my truck no longer bottoms out on road and can actually carry overlanding gear without looking like the Carolina Squat. Their rear bumper on my JK was good at totaling other peoples cars when they’d rear end me without suffering as much as a scratch. They make beadlock wheels that donā€˜t come loose and balance better than the stock wheels and tires. They make a stubby bumper that, while a true PITA to install, doesn’t look like it was made in some guys garage with a Harbor Freight MIG welder. Maybe they can make us a fuel pump compatible with US diesel too?

Although I agree they make quality stuff, a ground up 30k+ psi fuel pump is probably a bit out of their wheelhouse :CWL:
