Yes you waste fuel to have cleaner emissions. We all know this, and frankly it's a good thing for the environment.... (regardless of what folks have to say about it... this is fact)...
This is so disputable from the:
mileage lost, which means more drilling and fracking, and more refining,
to the manufacturing of all the emissions components,
to the shortened lifespan of the engines,
not to mention their lubricants,
which require more manufacturing to replace prematurely.
Is the above so much better for them environment?
Can you quantify the differences in which has less impact? How about the quality of life as the cost to benefit of the end users skyrockets whether as a diesel vehicle owner or just a consumer to which everything consumed has a diesel cost?
And let's talk about DEF and the environmental cost to manufacture it and those wonderful cardboard and plastic single-use containers, and their contribution to landfill waste

The most destructive force to the environment is not carbon emissions, it's poverty which creates massive carbon emissions let alone any consideration for the environment.
I was around in the seventies and remember choking anytime I went downtown in the large metropolitan City I grew up in. There's been great strides in emissions controls which have yielded noticeable benefits in major metropolitan areas, and I'm not for zero emission controls, but by the same token one cannot make the blanket statement you made with any credibility given the likely immeasurable variables of the macro, and lack of consideration in comparison of fuel efficiency.

For all the reply to the call out on regen frequency, I chose to pull the scanner out and check.
42k+ and 0 regen to date. It is possible. Now I have driven those 42k miles in 14 months and all highway where the entire system is alway at temp which is likely why I have not had a regen. Food for thought.

Wanted to get down to almost empty but couldn't pass up $4 gal (thanks JB!)
Drove it normally this time because the other way had more regens than I'm comfortable with, and went right back to normal MPG (18.4) though it was an uncharacteristically windy week in CFL.
Vehicle's estimations were off by 14 miles and roughly 2 MPGs, which it, as alluded to previously, is very optimistic until around the bottom ¼ tank when it starts calculating a little more realistically.
Still had some extra regens which may be residual from the previous tank. Gonna drive it normally for this tank to and see if it will clear out.

Two things I'm curious about:

1. Where specifically are the 3 extra MPGs coming from?
Getting it out of peak boost during acceleration?
Is there an efficiency "sweet spot" that is maximized by oscillating RPMs during acceleration?

2. Why the drastic increase in regens?
That would seem to point to inefficient combustion.

If I can solve the regen issue, this truck has the potential to live up to its MPG billing.

I used to be super OCD about watching the MPG gauge and trying to raise the number. But now I keep it on the TPMS screen and just drive normally and I can still pull 19mpg on 40's and stock gears. I'm okay with that haha

Boost is your number one killer of MPGs. I've noticed quickly getting up to speed and out of boost does produce better MPGs. You letting off every time your current MPG reaches 40 mpg stops the turbo from building boost. My best MPGs have always been 100% highway on road trips. My record is back-to-back tanks of 28.8 and 28.5 MPG on summer diesel. My recent trip to Florida and back I got 26+ on every tank (6 tanks).

I get 20-24 on flat highway at 75ish. I put it manually in 8th and let it build boost at a low rpm. Lowest I see is 19.8 climbing the foothills. This is on 38s and beadlocks. My gas 2020 on 35” tires got 14.5 in the same terrain. These Jeeps want to downshift at any throttle input. I find holding it in a high gear helps the mpg.

Same. Lock it in high gear and set the cruise. Except I don't ever see 24 mpg at 75 mph (i mean 82 mph). Only 19 or 20 mpg if I'm really going freeway speed. Setting the cruise at 53 mph works well for me on a 45 road to boost mileage.

Now mind you this was coming out of Flagstaff to Albuquerque. Even though there is elevation drop. It's only 6 ft. per mile. That was a little over an hour in. Ended up with 347+- miles on half a tank. There are small ups and downs on the road. So it's not dead downhill. I had a set of bikes on the carrier and luggage. Only mid was a bed rack and Rubicon take off tires. Ended up with a touch over 30mpg for that stretch.

with a tailwind too, that always helps. That's amazing though, either way. Could you confirm lift and tires?

Last fill-up. Light driving. And the regens have finally settled down.

Was on the phone and neglected to snapshot the mileage screen to compare with hand calculated.

Once again I ask, is this with 37s or 40s? I’m on 4.5” lift on 37s and I would be pissed if I only got 19mpg

Factory 33s. And yes I'm pissed.
Also need to figure out your driving habits. Short trips force regens much sooner than longer trips. If I’m going to the grocery store it’s mama’s gasser. If going 20+ minutes away it’s the diesel. I’m 13k miles in and have never personally experienced a regen.

Most trips are min 30 minutes. I drive conservatively.
