Most trips are min 30 minutes. I drive conservatively.
Driving conservatively sometimes might hinder your performance to be honest. You need to get some heat in the exhaust system for it to do its job with burning the soot out. I get on the freeway like it’s a drag strip and I’m not trying to lose the race against the 93 Accord next to me. That gets the egr nice and high and then once I reach speeds I jump to cruise control as soon as possible. Around town, same thing, I like to romp on it here and there, get sideways around corners in the rain sometimes. I’m not what you’d call conservative by any means, and I’m generally 21.5-22.5 on heavy 37s.

It’s the season- should start seeing stations switching from winter to summer diesel. - though I guess this greatly depends on where you are at- this years weather has been all over the place. Thursday it was 22*? Today was 67*? ??

Also need to figure out your driving habits. Short trips force regens much sooner than longer trips. If I’m going to the grocery store it’s mama’s gasser. If going 20+ minutes away it’s the diesel. I’m 13k miles in and have never personally experienced a regen.
Most trips are min 30 minutes. I don't conservatively.

I hear ya, friend.
Been driving for 40 years.
Got 26k on the JTRD and every tank has been an experiment in gas mileage. I hand calculate every tank going back 17 years.
It's the Jeep, trust me. I think it's parasitic drag somewhere in the drivetrain either that or it's just Orlando traffic/ roadways but there's a good mix of city, highway, rush hour and other types except for mountains, lol.
I've had 37s and the factory 33s.

From the sound of your issues, it definitely sounds like the Jeep and not the driver. Everyone is different with their habits, but diesels are generally more consistent with mileage mods and power, where the gassers are usually much farther apart from each other.

When I drive around town. I get 21 to 22 mpg. When my wife drives. She gets around 20. On a trip. I get anywhere from 19 to 29 mpg. Depending on which state I'm in. I get the worse milage in Kansas. Colorado and Missouri, I get the best.

My wife daily drives the JL and she drives it hard. Not full throttle but jack rabbit starts up to legal speed then slacks off. When I drive it I drive it easy so I can listen for anything that needs attention. She regularly posts better mpg than I do by 2-3.
Stock gears, 315's, winch, skid plates, heavy Mopar bead lock wheels and knocking out 26+ every week.
JT with BFG 37's on same wheels and 3.73's gets 19-20

Yessir, both diesels. I wouldn't want one without the diesel.

Having never owned a gas JT, I may be looking at this from a grass is greener on the other side of the fence perspective, but I bought the diesel for gas mileage, performance, tunability for more performance, and the novelty of a diesel. So far I feel it's fallen short of the first three to the point I've considered trading it for a gasser and likely would have except I wouldn't want to take the loss, and I'm not the type to turn vehicles around quickly.

Normal conservative combined driving. Maybe one regen.

Stock wheels and tires, bought it and drove it home 200+ miles
Jeep Gladiator Hyper-miling the EcoD Rubicon Gladiator D4241C00-F9BE-45BC-BFA2-AB8476F3F863

A few tanks later

After I did a 2.5” leveling kit

And shortly after I went to 37s, now I hover between 21.5-22.5 and can still squeeze 400 miles on a tank of diesel. Wish we all knew what the heck was going on with yours, hopefully it starts getting better!

Instead of being light on the throttle try manually forcing a higher gear, or do both. I've been doing that recently and I'm up 2 mpg (11.4%) on my gasser.
Often I can see that the incline is going to be brief, so I'll hold 8th gear and let it lose 1-2 mph.
In town I'll hold 7th running 35 and 8th when I get over 40.
That’s usually the trick, it is keeping it in the highest gear at the lowest possible rpm while still doing enough work to maintain speed. Kinda how I tow when I don’t want it revving at 4k in 5th gear going up the mountain passes.

Having had 1 JKR with 3.6 & 33’s and 2 JTRD’s. I just put 37’s on my JT, the main mpg screen went from 21.x to 19.2. My JK was lucky to get 15, the diesel not only get significantly more mpg, it actually moves a much heavier JT far better than the 3.6 did the JKR. You will have severe remorse if you trade for a 3.6 JT. Some might say the 8 speed tranny makes up the difference vs 5 speed of the JKR. I’m not going to take the risk.
When I looked at the mpg/fuel prices, the diesel was a better value & combined with the performance it’s a no brainer. The ROI may not be there but the smile every time I mash the pedal makes it a sound investment, imho.

What are your tires? Lifted etc? So I've driven both. My Ecodiesel is by far a way better option than the gasser.
Gasser on flat ground going up and over the overpasses here would kick down to 7th then 6th.....then back to 8th. Standard overpass nothing crazy at 72 mph. Ecodiesel just as a comparison. 8th gear all day long. I've driven it up from 4100 ft to just a touch over 7000 leave it in manual and it never even kicks down. If I leave it in auto mode it will drop to 7th but that is it. I'm currently sitting on Rubicon take off tires and a 300 lb camper. On a long trip I can still hit 25-26 mpg. I'm sure that will drop going to 35s and a 2.5 lift. Plus more weight in camper. No complaints whatsoever on my end.
