I have all of my filter and oil purchases recorded with my vendor. I also document it in the owners manual or service manual of the vehicle. I keep a personal log to include other vehicles that I don't own.

Never had an issue so my method may not not be sufficient for related warranty issues, but they would have a hard time proving that I didn't keep up with required maintenance. I have read people having not having issues by just having a written record. I think filter and oil receipts are a plus.

Always pop the hood for a visual inspect and oil level check after a service kids ... services are performed by humans... and we know we are all perfect.

To document my oil changes, I make copies of the dated sales receipts for the oil & filter (the heat activated print on original register receipts can tend to fade out to the point of not being legible over time).

Then I go on the MOPAR Jeep owner web app & enter the oil change info in the Maintenance Record section for my truck.
That way it is included with all service/warranty records for my truck that Jeep has on file, and is able to be easily accessed by any Jeep dealer down the road if needed.

Didn't know this was a thing. Thanks!

Is it possible oil was added, possibly not the correct amount, just shy of the dip stick ?
Also,
I have 3, J-Wave oil changes/tire rotations still on the books. What should I consider/ask the dealership when deciding whether or not to have them change the oil or should I just do it myself ?
For all the DIYers... what is the best way to document your self change for possible future warranty issues or resale ?
Anything special about replacing the oil filter ? Can it be put on wrong ? Over torqued ? I haven't changed the oil yet on my diesel, so is there anything to "look out" for ?
Thanks

Op, please follow-up and let us know what you were able to find out. Good luck !
This forum has scared me away from jeep dealerships doing basic maintenance. The JT is also the easiest thing I've ever had to do an oil change on. You'd have to work to get the oil filter in wrong. The oil filter cap is plastic so it can be rounded off or cracked. I use a 6 sided socket and torque wrench on it to make sure I don't over tighten or round it off (pretty sure the torque is stamped on the cap).

Takes like 15-20 min to do an oil change which is much faster than driving to a dealership and waiting an hour for them to do it. Most of the 15-20min is waiting on oil to drain.

Yes, this is the same method of documentation I use too.

It used to be the Mopar mobile app, but when I did my last oil change the app updated to the Jeep Mobile App.

Is the Maintenance Record still online? I just went to my Mopar Dashboard. My JEEP and its VIN number is listed in the "Garage" as well as my RAM Promaster van. But I am finding no link to bring up the Maintenance Record to see my existing entries, let alone enter the oil change I just did.

I have a "Latest Maintenance Records" section under Vehicle Information on the Website. The Mopar App had me Download the Jeep app and it's under the Service and Maintenance line above the dealer on that.

Using a desktop computer, it no longer exists under the Vehicle Information section or anywhere else. I won't install the App on my phone which I doubt would make it appear anyway.

I decided to look at my RAM Promaster that is also listed in "My Garage". The Maintenance Record for the Promaster's record is there.

It is a good thing I replicated everything in my own spreadsheet for both of these vehicles on separate Excel spreadsheets within an Excel workbook. I think I will forget using the MOPAR site to enter data depend on my own record keeping.

Yes, that is the correct URL. For some reason my JEEP record is flat gone but my JEEP is still listed in the dashboard. So is my RAM Promaster 3500 and its Maintenance Record exists. Oh well. As I mentioned to MonkeySkunks, I am just going to use my own spreadsheet which has all prior dealer and my personal work. Between that and a hard copy file of recalls, work invoices, reciepts, etc., I haven't lost anything.

No jeep yet...
Follow up… looks to have been a bad oil filter causing inconsistent oil pressure. As pissed as I was the dealer experience has been a good one. They sent me video of the oil draining (pretty damn close to 9 quarts) and all diagnostic checks. They redid the oil filter and oil change at $0. Picked it up yesterday afternoon and so far it has been performing normally.

hopefully I avoided any sort of damage to the engine as there was plenty of oil in it and I shut it off as soon as I saw the abnormal reading.

Yes, I attempted to register on my home computer. They said they would send an email to me with instructions how to register. The email never came. I think it has become a smartphone app like everything else. Not installing this app on my phone. I get enough garbage emails from Jeep, Mopar, etc. on my phone as it is.

I will continue logging all of my maintenance in my Jeep log with dealer records, receipts, part numbers and descriptions. Someday if a dealer has issues with it at trade time, I'll shop another. :)

Echo Diesels are no longer available on Jeeps and Rams because of oil leaks and dealers not wanting to do extensive repairs.
