I walked to the gladiator after work Monday to this. I did my usual remote start with the app. It appears to be from the oil filter area. Jeep is still at dealership without being looked at. I have a little over 20k on the odometer. The only problem I e had has been a recurring steering box leak.
3.0 liter eco diesel.

I swear this is gonna be the next tsb or recall. I have seen this happen to 3-4 jeeps in this forum and my buddy locally. They end up being a cracked filter housing, filter, or cooler.

It feels like the filter housing cracked.

Might want to do another oil change and check for shavings. No clue if it ran for the full time with no oil.

I have no idea if it leaked out while at work or when I remote started it. It wasn’t running when I walked up. You could get a reading on the dipstick but obviously low.

Have them swap it to a metal one, they’re available but I’ve heard some dealerships are on backorder. My buddy just did his on his own, took a couple hours.

It looks like your Jeep thinks it's a BMW. Sorry bud. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

FWIW: I'm a little leery of the remote starts on these after the experience I had renting one last month. It got "confused" and ran for a good solid 30+ minutes while I was inside a stone building, with the keys with me. I didn't hit the remote start button (that I was aware of), but did lock the doors. Someone came in and asked if one of us was the owner of the red Jeep. Oops.

Every other remote start equipped vehicle I've ever had going back 20+ years to a Clifford/DEI system on a VW I owned has had a relatively short timer, typically around 10-15 minutes. Why Stellaysler doesn't have that basic functionality is beyond me.

My wife one time took our Mojave to where we pull out of the river when we go Kayaking and didn't actually turn it off. She had the keys with her when she got a ride back to the put in point. 3 hours it sat in the parking lot running. Up side it was hot that day and the AC was on ??

Mine shuts off after 10-15 minutes and will say remote start timed out. It’s an eco diesel if that means anything.

The gladiator definitely has a 15 minute limit and you can only run remote start twice.

I have the 3.6, but I can't imagine the 3.0 is different.

Is it possible you just forgot to turn it off?

No chance of not turning it off. I listen to podcasts for 1 accessory cycle after shutting off motor then head into work.

This was on a MY21 with the 3.6.

Thought crossed my mind, but I did hit the start/stop button getting out of the truck to shut it off. There were several times on that trip the start/acc function was acting screwy. I chalked it up to Jeep electronic gremlins.

But that being said when this happened I was at least 50 yards away from it, in an all stone building that my phone couldn't get signal in. The fob is it must be in or in close proximity to the vehicle to run, even if it is left on, and by default it ought shut down after it no longer detects the fob. I'm no programmer but I would thing its a fairly simple line of code: Truck is left on, fob goes out of range, truck shuts off, doors lock. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Your point about the 15 minute timer above makes sense. I don't think I ever had it idling to warm up anywhere near that long. Maybe it's a Jeep thing and I don't get it. :P

FWIW, a client was telling me a day or two ago his JLU has now crossed 45 days in the shop for unknown electrical issues and now the dealer is claiming the entire electrical system of the truck needs to be "redone." Along with other problems, he had issues with it running unattended, but unlike OP he's got a 3.6, too.

FWIW: I am not a fan of push button/keyless ignition systems at all, especially given the ease of which they can be cloned. I prefer a hard key but even those are not fool proof. IMO, Benz had the best electronic immobilizer system I'd seen: The key had an IR emitter that must be placed in the port to unlock the engine. I didn't have remote start on mine but my understanding is the ones that did still had the same hard-input.
