I don't always get the same screen with my fuel economy gauge. I know there are two screens but what I'll call the "expanded screen", which has the file economy reading, the distance reading and, sometimes. the instant fuel economy reading, changes on me. Sometimes the instant mileage reading displays, sometimes it doesn't.

I've been driving around for the last couple of days with the data in the first picture. That includes this morning. I went out one last time this afternoon and having made no changes to anything I get the data in the second screen. Any idea why this happens?

I do IT stuff so I can buy Jeep stuff.
In the first picture you aren't moving (0 mph) .... I think after a few seconds at 0 mph it stops showing the Current estimate. It should come back on with an estimated Current value when you are moving again.

I'll try that but I'm pretty sure that I get both screens whether I'm moving or not, and if I get the instant fuel reading it is a hyphen (or two) when I'm stopped.

I always run with the "Current" mileage readout showing on the screen.
On mine, when stopped & at idle, the "Current" readout changes to orange, & simply shows 0 as shown below.

Are you sure that you aren't accidentally bumping either the right or left arrow button on the left side of the steering wheel & inadvertently changing screens?

Just a thought.

There are two screens when hitting that arrow. If I scroll over one screen I get the screen you're referencing that has minimal information (see below). The second "expanded screen" does not always show the same information and is what I showed above.

Mine had the Instant showing for about 2 months after I bought it. Then it disappeared. It came back about 1 month and a half ago. It was gone for about a year.

It's two different screens, not the fact he's not moving. Yes, it would not show current, but the whole screen is different, not just the fact there's no current mpg.

This has been reported multiple times on newer models. I'm guessing it's a software glitch. I don't look at that screen very often, but it's all there when I do.

My suggestion, quit watching the MPG display. The JT is a aerodynamic brick. If MPG is a big concern, you probably bought the wrong vehicle.

IIRC, this was first reported when the ‘22s started appearing.
My ‘21 shows the instant-reading screen reliably when I’m switched to it.

I got a 23'. Same experience as OP, but disappeared for about a day. It has been back ever since. Cycling using the arrows does not make it reappear. I didn't do anything different. It just reappeared on a new start cycle.

I hadn’t heard about this before. I don’t worry about the gas mileage but get curious when something doesn’t work the way it’s supposed to.

That's understandable. Usually there are other posts relating to the same issue.

It's not that. I'm aware of the two screens. One of the screens, which should show range and instant mileage does not always show the instant mileage. It is doing so right now.
