I went from my stock Falken Wildpeak 33s to C rated BFG KO2s 315 70 R17 on my 21 Mojave, and ran them on the stock wheels for several hundred miles until I was able to purchase and install new 8.5" MVX wheels. During the time I ran the KO2s on the stock Mojave wheels I tried several air pressure settings. At 40psi the ride was barely harsher than on the Wildpeaks at the same psi but the top center portion of the tread on the new tire was poking upward noticeably. However, at 36 and 34 psi the tire tread flattened almost completely and the ride was "automobile" smooth. The BFGs are quieter at all psi settings.
Once I swapped to the new wheels (12mm offset, 8.5", 17) the BFGs maintain the top of the tread flat at all psi settings from 40 all the way down to 32. I settled for 35psi and this gives a super smooth ride and moderate feel on the steering.
My Mojave is strictly a city Jeep, and I did not want added unsprung weight therefore a C rated 35 BFG KO2 tire is very similar in weight to the stock 33 Wildpeak tire. The MVX wheels are also about the same weight as stock.
All said, I went up to 35s with barely a few pounds of added weight. All good for the Pentastar 3.6.
The new setup added about 1.75" of poke (about 1" outside of the Recon fender extensions I'm rocking). There are no rubbing issues with the 315 70 BFGs on either of the wheels I tried.
I really like the look, the feel and the street/highway performance of this set up and I hope this info helps.

Great info, I am going to KO2 35s as well....main reason for that choice was the weight, going to a 35 with a couple of pound increase is a win.

I just sold my 2020 with 35x12.5 BFG KO2, E rated with 60K miles on them and they still half tread.

I would do them again but change to a C or D.

Have you guys seen this video?

I am thinking of going in that direction...I tend to be a follow the data kind of guy....I should get better gas mileage, little weight penalty and some better off road performance and 2" taller tires.

We're highly considering that 35 KO2 E rated or Open country AT toyo tires for the next tires. The Wildpeaks has been good but it's time for better tires.

BFG 35s are closer to 34” usually. You’ll have no problems.

Definitely get C rated tires.
I love BFG KO2s and agree they run "small for size" in my experience too (have read that factory "37s" also fit for the same reason!). My buddy's Raptor has the KO2s in "35s" and when compared side-by-side to mine, are obviously not quite as tall. In fact the Raptor "37s" are only a bit taller than the Nitto Trail Grapplers in 35s.

On my Mojave, I run 35x11.5 Nitto Trail Grapplers and love them (see related threads -- many others helped influence my decision to go this route specifically with 35x11.5). These are indeed taller than my "35" KO2s and closer to a "true 35" if that matters to you. No rubbing and an important detail for me is that the tread pattern fits inside the factory fenders. Personally, I now prefer that look...

In the past my wheel/tire combo always stuck out beyond the fenders and the mud/rock spray is much better contained now.

I would buy these tires agin, but admit I'm also eyeing the 37x11.5 next time...hate how that always happens! :)

Thank you, gentlemen!

Did you buy the C or E class?

I was thinking E, so I can air down with less concern about debeading, but was unsure about the overall ride.
Assuming you’re going with a wider than stock tire? 11.5-12.5. You have a lesser chance of debasing with the new tire and the narrow stock wheel…. Some refer to a poor man’s beadlock. Should be able to air down to 12psi with no concerns.
Something to think about with the narrow rim and wide tire is the tire crowning and wearing the center section out quicker…. Chalk test is needed.
