I gotta think he's just misspeaking. The 2.0L I4 that's been available in the JL for years is not a "Hurricane" engine.

3. We're throwing different versions of the same part on different vehicles, depending on what we've got on hand at any given moment.

Its been referred to as the hurricane since its design.

Yes, the twin-turbo straight-six has been called the "Hurricane" all along, but the 2.0L four-cylinder in the JL is not that.

What doesn't make sense about the new grill is that I if I remember correctly, the Gladiator needed a separately designed grill w/larger slots to help keep the engine cool when fully loaded and/or towing.

In fact they made a big deal about it when first introduced in 2019.

So now what do they do? Toss a glorified Renegade grill on the '24 models with smaller slots????

If you look closely at the new grill you may be surprised to see the bars that separates the slots are themselves perforated which I would assume should increase airflow into the engine compartment and provide better engine cooling. The new grill may not be everyone’s cup of tea but if engine cooling is enhanced then IMHO it’s a win especially for those of us with the diesel engine. In fact, I believe you can swap the 2024 grill into older model JL and JTs.

That wiki article is the first I've heard of the 4cyl being called a hurricane.
The only hurricane I knew of was the inline 6 twin turbo that I think is on the wagoneer?
Thats the one we want :P
