Hello, I am a relatively new Gladiator owner. Wound up getting a mojave because it was easily the most appealing unit on the lot and the shocks and upgrades to frame and suspension greatly appealed to me. Additionally I don't do any rock climbing anywhere near the scale of what I've seen in the US like rubicon. (The craziest stuff I get into is in British Columbia and I dont like to risk my daily too much).

Anyways, preface out of the way, what I've been trying to find out and haven't been able to find a consistent answer is if im going to need to regear if I upsize to 35s or not. I'd like to try to refrain from voiding warranty so I think it's technically possible to swap the 3.73s with 4.10s from a rubicon (I could be wrong) and stay within the means. Additionally I'm considering 2 possibilities, either going with procomp steelies and KO2s or keeping the oem wheels because they're quite nice actually, and mounting a narrower 35 (I seen another mojave on here with a specific one I wanted but I've already forgotten. )

I don't do any towing as I prefer tent camping, but could potentially see a rooftop tent one day as I would like an overland rack, but thats a whole other bridge that's to be crossed another time. Any advice and pointers would be appreciated, and sorry for the rambling.

Side note: I expect someone to ask why I didn't just get a rubicon, and to that I would say, it's easier to add rubi features to a mojave than vice versa. Thank you!

Also, apologies if this has been answered, every thread I've seen talks about 36s or 37s in the plans but I think I'll be satisfied with 35s for the lifetime, unless I get another daily which I don't see happening for many years haha

No need to regear, Mojave already has 4.10s. You should have zero issues with 35s. I'm waiting on my 33s to wear out and I'll be going to 35s
Great answer, I too am waiting for my 33's to wear out and will be going to 35's. Probably be a while since I have a 2021 JTM with less than 13,000 miles...

I guess I should've specified that mine is an automagic. Is yours as well?

And thank you! Absolutely love it so far. Always wanted a wrangler with a bed haha

Your Mojave has the same 4.10s the Rubicon has. In fact the entire rear axle assembly is identical including the locker.

Well damn I feel stupid now hahaha I could've swore I read mojaves are 3.73. This is good news though.

There's also bad info everywhere....someone probably did write they had 3.73s mistakenly.

Another common misconception thanks to even professional reviews is that the Mojave comes with 'heavy duty cooling' since it's ' Desert Rated '. It doesn't. A reviewer had a truck with the Tow Package...which includes a higher output fan....and then thought the Mojave ' comes with ' that. It doesn't but you can get an OPTION on the truck....as with any trim.... that does!

No need to regear. I get 20-21 mpg on Summer blend quite easily, and 8th gear is typical on the highway. Winter blend drops me to 19.

Gorgeous ride, and that sounds all acceptable to me. What lift do you have on this thing?

Need to re-gear? No.

Will you notice the difference vs. stock if you’re even remotely observant? Yes.

Would you want to re-gear eventually? That’s a personal choice. I doubt that many folks out there are re-gearing from 4.10 just for 35’s.
