took the stock shocks off of my 22 Overland at 4000 miles and threw them away. Replaced with Tereflex Falcons. Much improved ride in every way. I understand you have money flowing in different directions right now, but if you want this fixed right you can do MUCH better than the factory replacements.
Yeah, my laptop split (battery swelled destroying keyboard) and our big desktop in my office is 10 years old - hardware is good and really powerful but nothing supports 10 year old hardware (and it's going to give out at some point) and replacing it with something with the capacity it has will be around 1500.

Shocks aren't what they used to be so the costs aren't what they used to be, either.
Last time I put 4 shocks on something it was under $150 for all 4. Quality and technology has changed so I expect it's going to be pricy if I do it myself compared to letting Jeep do it and then I save up and replace the replacements when those go south.

The Bilstein 5100's are firmer than oem Rubi shocks. But they are not harsh. I got 4 for $440 from @Northridge4x4. With your lift. I feel that you are operating on the edge of the stroke of the oem shocks. And you may have topped them out a few times. Thus the leaking. It's a possibility.

I hear ya - and I thought of that - topping them out, but then not how and where I drive. Not that I can recall - can't remember it even being close to bouncing up like that. (front shocks still work fine - uh, so far, that is)
Then I read your post and thought - ok, think back almost exactly one year (the 14th of July 2022 as I recall) and have I ever bounced this one through a pavement dip, or other situation where she jumped up? Can't think of anything around here or any such time.
I don't take it off road, I've not even bottomed it out except when I had the plow on but then the plow hit the pavement and stopped downward travel.

But another reason I'd love to know the stroke of the JTO shocks compared to stock Rubicon shocks - might play in any decisions (one thing ADHD people struggle very hard with in life is choices)
So I research, list information, chart what I find and go from there.
Firm may be ok as long as the ride across RR tracks, washboard roads, rough pavement and Illinois crappy as #@$% highways isn't made worse ;)

Still thinking about what you said........ ugh, the cost, but then they gotta be better.
Problem is it would be nice to hear from someone with an Overland and those shocks.
But different weight trucks and different spring rates should have different shocks.... you have a Rubicon diesel - a lot different ride even with the 3.6

Looked on Northridge site - Bilstein shocks ->

:headbang: - this is funny, or sad -

Jeep Gladiator No shocks 1689824355298

Average time to ship is 30 days then another week after that?
Good grief.

I'm thinking if you get warranty replacements the new ones will fail soon as well.

My Sport S shocks were leaking after just a week of offroad. Not much damping control, just crashing into the bump stops. We'll see how the Bilstein replacements hold up.

And I find the Bilsteins do let you feel the little bumps in the road, but I'm OK with that.

I have my stock red diesel shocks laying around in the garage. About 60 miles on them, drove home from the dealer and swapped them.
Pay for shipping and they're yours! ;)

The way I look at your leaking shocks, it's a good reason/excuse for a complete suspension upgrade. It's a fine line between a reason and a excuse sometimes. Looks like this "/". My phone won't make a finer line. That's all I got. Good Luck my Friend.

I just purchased 5100 through extreme terrain a month ago.

I had thought of that - it would be going from leaking shocks to weak non-leaking shocks.
And then we all know how good leaking shocks eventually get - not working at all.

The Rubicon rears are about a wash - I didn't put those back on the 2022 because they were worse than the JTO shocks were new. Now it's about the same.

Too bad Rubicons don't come with good shocks. That would be problem solved.

I need to pull a stock shock, compress it and measure, let it extend and measure, and compare to the Rubicon shocks - I'm really curious as to length comparison.
Could try to find take-off 23 rubicon shocks, they went back to the Teneco (rancho) red body shocks. Nothing to write home about, but a good bit better than the fox-bodied shocks that the 22 and older came with.

I would get a hold of jeep warranty customer service. They will probably refund up to the cost of OEM shocks even if you choose to upgrade. I have done similar this recently with Ram care on my Ram 3500.

You got typical "Analysis Paralysis". Just about all the aftermarket monotube shocks are going to be based off the Rubicon for valving.

Got a choice to make to continue the path of possibly having to replace OEM shocks prematurely as a normal course of maintenance or roll the dice with the aftermarket and whatever that comes with.

Kind of not related but really is…. I installed a set of Bilstein’s on a crew cab Chevy that porpoised so badly on bridges with uneven expansion joints it felt like the front end was coming off the ground. By installing the upgraded shocks was an incredible change. While not be harsh at all, the body control was phenomenal and very controlled.
