It’s time for new tires and I was thinking about going to 37s. Was looking at the FALKENWILDPEAK A/T3W. I’m currently on 35 nitto ridge grapplers. It’s my daily driver and I have 71,xxx miles. Is it a bad idea to switch to 37s? 2020 rubicon, 2 inch mopar lift.

I would not do it without a regear. As to being a good idea, that is going to be up to you but there is no free lunch here and will have to pay in some regard due to increase wear and lost MPG's

Great idea!

Go with a lighter tire. Falkens and Nittos are heavy and you'll need all the help you can get.

A C rated KO2 which is also a smaller 37" may be what you need. I don't think there was more than a couple lbs difference between the factory 33" falkens and the 37" KO2s.

I have the Falken Wildpeak in 37s and also have the mopar lift on my Rubicon. Mines also my daily driver and it rides really nice. Better than stock. The tires are great, not loud at all.

I run 37” Mickey Thomson Baja Boss A/T’s and can’t say enough about those tires. They’re great on and off road. I wouldn’t do it without s regear, or you’ll very seldom see 7th and 8th gear. It’ll be a pig. Unless you have the diesel. I have 5.13’s and RCV shafts in front. I wheel it hard, then hook up the trailer and drive home at 75mph. Totally doable. But not just with tires if you like the interstate.

love my 37" BFG KO2s. I ran for a year before I regeared. It's nice to have but I wouldn't say it's an absolute necessary, guess it depends on how you drive. The 3.6 moved fine and wheeled fine with the 37's and 4.10's. I bought a boat and the regear was more needed towing more.

Totally fair. I do tow, but it’s also the mountain driving. If I lived in flat land I might get away with 4.10’s. Not here though.

You doing it for looks? For a daily no way I would do 37s. MPGs will be worse you have to hike up into it, more money for the tires etc... Now with that being said I have 37s and a Mopar lift.... but I dont DD it. Just my .02

I'd say go for it, but be ready to regear if needed. I daily 37s and now 39s and the 37s were fine in Florida on 4.10s as its mostly flat and was very liveable. Once we started heading through the mountains in TN more and wheeling up there it became obvious a regear was needed though so 5.13s went in.

I have the 37” KO2’s on quite heavy AEV Borahs and Mopar lift on my Rubicon.
(I run Nokian LT3 35’s on factory rims in the winter when I do some towing)

I think the 37’s are great and definitely wouldn’t regear if not towing. Tazer settings for accurate speedo are 36.5” for the KO2’s, and 34.58” for the Nokians.

I just completed a highway trip:
•quite flat terrain,
•110-120kph, 12.9 L/100km (70-75mph, 18mpg us)
•holds 8th on flat terrain, 7th for small hills.

Around town I average 14L/100km (17mpg). It has good acceleration with little throttle input. I like how I don’t have to mash the pedal. (I’m used to driving diesels and prefer to be easy on the pedal)

I would consider a different 37 than the KO2. The KO2’s are quiet, but the C load sidewall has a lot more flex which is felt in the steering wheel.

My 3.6L Gladiator came with crappy 37s when I bought it from the previous owner. I suffered with the 37s for over a year. Just a reprehensible quality tire and highway travel was ponderous and dodgy. My recommendation, would be to go to a nice 35, like a BFG KO2 with a bit of an offset with a rim that pushes the stance out an inch or so. Now I am on 35 KO2, highway travel is much improved, transmission isnt hating life (e.g. i an actually get to 8th gear sometimes), and road noise is good. I never knew what the original gas mileage was, but I am reliably at 15 MPG in town. I dont commute so I honestly dont care that much about mileage.

I've attached the actual image from my 175 mile trip on the Camino Del Diablo trail in Southern Arizona. If you can do this trail, you are set :)

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I’ll probably just stick with 35s then. I really don’t want to have to regear. I’m really not sure how much longer I will keep my jeep. I was only looking at going 37s because I have a friend with a brand new set of 37x12.5x20 37 falken wildpeak at3w, that he’s going to sell me for a 1,000 since he sold his jeep. My nitto grapplers have held up well, over 70k miles on them. Only replacing because of the cracks in between tread.

Other then not seeing 8th gear will it cause any damage or wear and tear on the vehicle?

I would think ring and pinion gear, ball joints and wheel bearings would be more stressed over time.
