I am also thinking about a fan with variable speed control in front of the radiator
Has any buddy done this
This might help if the problem is overheating at low speed or crawling, where there’s no natural airflow over the radiator. The existing electric engine fan on the back of the radiator seems to handle this OK. I haven’t seen too many complaints like this

At speed while towing uphill, the extra obstruction might actually hurt airflow. This is the complaint I’ve seen most. Ask yourself - take this proposed fan at full blast, how fast is the air blowing out? If road speed is more than that, it’s probably just freewheeling and obstructing airflow

Not a JT its a Wrangler JL that I put the JT grille inserts on or they are also called wrangler JL upgrades inserts. Also none as Max tow inserts
There is a reason jeep made these inserts to improve air to the radiator

I like the looks of the new grille and that’s why I bought it. I spent close to $900 on mine. The way I figured it, I could either blow $900 on the grille and look at it every day that I decided to drive the JT, or I could spend it on hookers and blow. Currently I’m having sinus issues so
I chose the former.

@Lunentucker if you legit think the new grille was a mere facelift/mid-cycle update then I’d get your head checked. Each vertical slate blocked more airflow over the radiator. Now their gone and the entire grille is essentially all mesh.
I can see the type of guy you are, your first comment was making fun of the guy for spending $900. Frankly I don’t understand why folks like you are so judgemental over what some else is doing with THEIR money for THEIR rig.

All that aside, I don’t think the cooling differences will be drastic but I do think the Jeep (ESPECIALLY the diesel) will benefit. I have one on order for $750 and I’m sure it’ll help my Jeep in my FL weather, how much I don’t know but any improvement is still an improvement.

Go ahead, make fun of me too for spending $750, show everyone how narrow minded and judgemental you are. Most of us will see through it.
Congratulations on wasting $750. It's already been proven with the Diesels that this makes no real world difference. A guy tested awhile back that even running with NO grille made no real change in temps.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know.
"If it's on the Internet, it's true" - Abraham Lincoln

Facebook dude claims his coolant temps are down considerably after he paid $900 (yeah - $900) on Ebay for the newly designed grille.
I'm thinking he timed his pics with his thermostat cycles, because his other temps are higher.

The only way a grill could let it run cooler is if the truck was running under high load and high ambient air temp.
And the temperatures of oil, transmission and coolant on mine will vary wildly - from 190 up to over 210 and then back down and up as things cycle - fan and stat included. The fan doesn't run full-time.
Ordinary daily driving it shouldn't matter a lick - but under the load of towing in the heat, it may well help.

Fuck it, let's throw a 4xe JLU driving all battery into the mix. If the results mean nothing let's get creative.
There's a problem there - you won't have a temp display...........unless that's what you mean!

Top photo also has the outside temp display cropped off. I would expect back to back lat/long location within a reasonable distance and same day like temps data before making any serious claims.

Not saying the guy was being nefarious, but I would not draw conclusions from just those pictures.
What's his address - I'll send him my pic to use.........he can use selective snip from it to modify his own picture.

If you want a true test, you need a control. Take the grill off and run a 10 mile circuit - city and highway at varying speeds. Record the high and low temps.

Install the old grill and run the same circuit. Record high and low temps.

Install the new grill and run the same circuit. Record high and low temps.

Compare and determine which is better or worse compared to the control.

I’ve got the diesel grill on mine which is significantly more “open” than the old grill in the photo above and closely resembles the grill insert of the new one.

take the grill completely off and drive

Before 24 grille

The accuracy of your modified images is scary.............

I see another problem here, too - I'd be concerned about that voltage.
Obviously running the "wrong oil".
Damn, that thing is about to self-destruct!

The only thing missing is an adjustment to the altitude.
Maybe make it following the Tesla Roadster

Taking the grille off may actually be worse than running with the stock grille as it's possible the air won't build the pressure needed to be forced through the radiator as efficiently since it can escape easier around the sides of the radiator.
