Hi, I'm a total rookie when it comes to turbos, forced induction, ect.
But I saw a harbor freight add today about a 805 cubic feet per minute electric blower and started wondering if anyone has tried an electric blower instead of a turbo or traditional blower?

On Summits CFM Calc page it says a 3.6 needs a 325 cfm carb. Is there any reason an electric leaf blower couldn't act like a regular blower or turbo?

Trying this on something like an old lawnmower is exactly something I would have done back in my high school days.

What do y'all think?

Sounds like a recipe for disaster. Superchargers and turbos have complicated boost management systems to control pressure and increase pressure safely.

Additionally, the hard part of forced induction is the tuning. If you don't know what you are doing, don't try!

without proper tuning, it is easy to blow an engine up.

Found this after posting above, looks some have actually tried it just for fun.
If I had an old junker, Ide try it just for the laughs.

This guy tried it and his extension cord wasn't long enough so he gave up on the concept.

Putting a turbo or supercharger on your motor is a complicated process and sorry to say that electric turbo won't do what you want.

Yes, I know that. I was only asking if anyone had any "outside the box" type of thinking on how to boost an ice engine.
Believe me, I never thought that you could improve performance with a leaf blower (thats just silly).
Folks are way to serious sometimes :)

By the way, here is a story about Porsche developing an electric turbo.

The trend is for electric or electric assist to prevent lag and increase efficiency.
Contrary to others, I've read the details behind this. It's electronically controlled like almost everything else. And it's a proven boost to performance.

I'm not sure about installing one today, after market, but OEM, factory, yeah.
It's not just coming, it's here.

The kits are more than just sticking a leaf blower on and turning it on. There's a lot to it.

But there's enough info out there to show it's not as high risk as some are saying. It's not the same as the true turbo, these are more like electric super chargers.
------------------------
Despite these limitations, there are two very useful and exciting applications for an electric turbo in the aftermarket. One is to use it exactly as the OEMs do – supplement a turbo to reduce lag. The only difference being the size of the turbo you’re supplementing! Imagine being able to fit a much larger turbo and still have it spool up like factory!

The second opportunity is to supplement a naturally aspirated car without having to do a full turbo system. It is entirely possible (especially with the new system by Torqamp) to bolt an electric turbo on and make more power and torque per dollar than traditional NA mods. Ok, it may not give you as much as a “real” turbo, but let’s face it – if you expect to make big boost on an NA engine you’d better be prepared to upgrade the internals, the fuel system, and the ECU.

Gotta be better than this - so what's the big deal?

Not a lot of Formula 1 fans here, I see

Electric turbo tech has been around for a while there, though in parallel with the usual exhaust-driven turbine

You can always just get a fresh bottle of N02 and blast it right out of the valve into the air intake. Shouldn't cause any problems. But if you do, make sure you get it on video for us.

If you have a newer 3.6 with the GPEC5 PCM......don't bother. That's saying nicely
