Advanced safety, no ACC, the rest is standard rubicon functions that the Overland does not have. If the interest rate was lower it’d be a no brainer. I’ll probably hold off for a 2025 Rubi.
Makes sense. I can understand the impulse though. If I had started with an overland, I think I’d have traded up. But I’m keeping my rubicon forever.

I mean the interest rate blows but it's not going to get any better for at least 2 years (more rate hikes predicted for 2024 so only worse from where they are right now).

Edit: I'll also mention that it wasn't that long ago that a 5 or 6% interest rate was pretty standard. The monetary policy has been really lax the last 5 years and got everyone used to basically free money but I doubt we're seeing that again in the next 10 years+ outside of promotional rates

I think the power swaybar is a disadvantage. Need a Tazer ( $350 ) to make it useful... 40mph on washboard roads is so much nicer disconnected. The auto reconnect I understand...safety. It's expensive. It breaks. If I had a Rubicon I'd remove it and still add Apex Autolynx.

I vote to keep your current truck. Interest rates suck right now. Especially cause your rig already has a Clayton lift and other mods. Doesn’t seem worth the time and money to trade up in my opinion.

I’ve also had the itch, but just can’t justify the rates. Especially considering I got my Sport S before the price boom with a 3% rate.

I figured the Rubicon would hold it’s value over my Overland and I’d eventually get better equity in the long run.
Maybe, maybe not.
The Overland trim isn't offered for 2024, and it's been very popular with those that have them.
It may turn out to be worth more than a run-of-the-mill Rubicon.

Literally 0 chance of that. The overland is the Sahara of gladiators except for whatever reason less popular. The Rubicon is always the leader in value as it's seen as the top of the heap(heep?) trim. If the overland was like the Mojave with unique one off parts maybe, but other than the springs, it's just a loaded sport s.

How many miles are on your Overland? I believe the Rubicon will hold value better, and give you capabilities you may need or want in the future. I would also try to squeeze the dealer a little more so you don't have another full year of payments. I'd even rather increase my payment a bit and keep the term of the loan down. That is, unless you anticipate raises better than inflation in the future.

DO you ACTUALLLY wheel? I mean do you really? Or is the Rubi just window dressing? I checked out your showcase and Looking at it, I wouldn't go anywhere. I bought a 21 sport 18 months ago for $37,900. I get that youre looking at a RUBI but it's a TON more money and a nutso interest rate. If you've got newcaritus get a new toy for the current truck. I find any time I start looking at new vehicles all I need to do is add some simple mod and bam, loving my truck again. I caught myself just the other day looking at a new Glady.... Went and bought a Tazer instead and some sound deadening mat and I'm super excited about my truck again. Plus more mods means that much more I'd have to do to get a new one to the level of my current one!

Yea that’s the way I’m leaning as well. It doesn’t make financial sense for me. In the back of my head I figured the Rubicon would hold it’s value over my Overland and I’d eventually get better equity in the long run. But thanks for your honest input!
I seriously doubt it. I think the difference is the rubi is more expensive to begin with so the resale value is going to be higher in line. Whether sport or rubi or mojave all will hold value very well if they stay in a similar resale as the wrangler category. Mine was 43k new and now 38 wholesale after 3 years. Pretty strong if you ask me.

Is there a significant milage difference between what you have and the Rubi? If so that would weigh into my decision.

How big was your original loan? Owing 28k is still a lot, no way I’d add on more car debt than that. Maybe you should sell and buy a civic! lol jk. Debt is evil.
Debt is not evil, it's a tool. And like any tool it's capable of being misused. You can murder someone with a hammer, that doesn't make hammers evil.
