35 Toyo MT loud after 30K miles

First, I love the Toyo MT, and I realize it's an MT....BUT they are getting so loud I can't even hear the the radio at highway speeds. They have been maintained and rotated properly.

Ideas on a quieter tire, even an AT, are appreciated! Thanks guys!

I have the Toyo RT Trails, 315/70r17, with about 9k miles on them, already unreasonably loud unfortunately. Personally I would not recommend them.

We still have the OE Falkens and theyre quieter than the RT trails despite having 2x the mileage on them.

I'll be switching back to the Mickey Thompson Baja ATs on the next go around. I really loved those. Very aggressive looking, super quiet, amazing in the snow. A little stiff though.

Goooooooood to know. The R/T Trail was hitting the market right as I got my A/T III's, and I've always been wondering if I should've held out a couple of months for them. Glad I didn't.

@OVERLORD is on the right track. Mud terrain tires need to be rotated. OFTEN! Once they start to cup, there's no turning back. They just keep getting louder. Ridge Grapplers or Toyo R/T Trail might be a better compromise.

This is essentially my situation. Which is really just frustrating as I made the first rotation on the tires at just over 3k miles. Rotation is what highlighted the issue. Clearly the rears have wore differently than the fronts. No visible cupping is present but I suspect some minute amount had already started to form. After another 1k miles the rears that had been rotated to the front did quiet down some, but remained loud enough to draw comments from passengers. At 6300 miles I did my first service, tires were rotated again, no discernable change in noise this time, but also no reduction in noise either.

Ive ran so many tires over the last 10 years since I drive a lot and have had probably 5-6 trucks in that time frame. No other tire I've ran made this much noise this early. The only other tire I ran that really made an uncomfortable amount of noise were the Ridge grapplers. The noise on those did not start until about 36k mile though and they were nearing their life span at that point.

Oh well. Gives me an excuse for another set in a year. Silver linings, right.

I am running the Falken Wildpeaks (33'S) AT Tire and rotate them every 5000 miles. I know mine have gotten progressively louder and louder (Am at 37K). I had seen from numerous findings that the tires would get louder. Guess its just something have to deal with.

The older the tire gets, the harder it gets. The harder it is, the louder it is.
Add in the normal wear and tear and you have 30,000 mile tires sounding like 30,000 mile tires.

Frequent rotation in the key with MT tires. If they get to the point where they begin to “cup” they will get really loud. I try to rotate every 3K (mostly street) 5K (mostly highway). Quiet as day one. As they age, the rubber will get harder and the tires louder, but minimal if rotated frequently.

I've got a set of Toyo R/T 35's on my truck. They have probably 50% to 60% of tread life left. I would say the noise is probably between a quietish mud tire and an noisyish all terrain lol. I've been happy with them so far. I find them to be just the right amount of noise, you can hear them, but you can still have a conversation in the truck and hear the radio!
