The thing is, with the Mojave, only 2 ratings are listed:

MT: 4500
AT: 6000

There is no separate "with" and "without" tow package on this trim like there is for Sport and Overland.

There is nothing on the door sticker. So - this leads me to believe the tow package does not increase the tow rating for the Mojave, so he'd be fine, up to the rating for the transmissions given.
The Mojave is the exception, but it was also designed to be a high speed Desert Runner and not a tow vehicle. There is no rating change getting the factory installed Tow Package, but it does get the receiver, cooling upgrades, and electrical upgrades installed for you.

The Tow Rating is not on the door stickers, just the Payload capacity and the weight and axle ratings. The Payload sticker is specific to each truck, and takes into account the Tow Rating and the installed options.

Rubicon = no change either with or without. Seriously baffling, I want to know!! :)

Another thing - using factory components - the question would be "does it have the tow package"?

First you must define the "tow package":

240a alt, 850w fan, Class IV receiver hitch

If you add all of these OEM components, you have the "tow package". It doesn't say "with factory equipped tow package".

Splitting more hairs! =D
The Factory installed Tow Package only lists the major component differences. We know the Max Tow package includes different rear springs. We don't know if the other models get a rear spring change with a tow package.

Don't the Mojave and Rubicon include the wider axles, that are also part of the Max Tow package?

Yes.

I was wondering how much of that was part of it.
With the Rubicon vs Max Tow specifically, the Rubicon has lower payload/towing due to its extra weight (rock rails, steel rear bumper, extra steel front skid, additional standard vehicle options), larger diameter and heavier tires (harder to stop), and softer suspension which greatly impacts the payload.

Getting a JT with the factory installed Tow Package gives you the Legal Protection of a specific Tow Rating. Not everyone cares about this, because it has never been a problem for them. As long as you stay within that Rating, you are legally okay to behave stupidly, but not negligently.

Adding the missing components of the Factory Tow Package will give you a truck that is physically capable of performing the task. However, you only have the legal protection up to the factory Tow Rating it shipped with. Again, this is not a concern for everyone. Each person has to determine how much risk they are willing to accept.
Tow ratings are not a legal number it's just a (recently) standardized test to allow for apples to apples comparison.

If the 2 gladiators have the same gcwr then that minus your truck weight and payload is your actual legal tow rating.

Edit: I will say that does not mean that the 2 vehicles towing experiences will be the same, but merely from a legal stand point, GCVWR is what matters.

Getting the cooling is the most important part.... As a diesel owner with the max tow package, I run 40's and pull a 2400 lb opus and it struggles poorly to keep the engine temp. down. I could only imagine how fast my engine would destroy itself without the upsized cooling system.. Still isn't close to enough though. Highly suspect the oil cooler is more of the problem than anything else. Oil always gets high first and then heat soaks the coolant trying to keep it down and all goes to 250+ deg on any pull.

Bottom line, get the max tow so you at least have a shot at not blowing up an engine sooner than later.

Just to clarify, you do not have the max tow package on your diesel, it's only available on the V6. You just have the standard tow package designed for the diesel.

Current build option just calls it the tow package.. But it has supposedly better cooling By " heavy duty engine cooling"... 100% false advertising... Even on the sport s where max tow is shown, it still has the generic "heavy duty cooling" so probably all the same on the cooling front regardless of package.

Well, they could argue the 850w fan makes it "heavy duty". I added it for desert cooling, not towing.

You found a local deal on a JTM that you want, but it doesn't come with the tow package.

What are you planning on towing?
Where in Florida are you? Some of us here may be able to help you. We know people.

I think in summary for OP, since he's buying a Mojave:

The factory tow package does not increase the tow rating. So, if you want the one on the lot, buy it and you can add the tow package later.

No doubt the actual tow hitch (and maybe cooling) is the same, but diesel engine is far heavier and has different suspension bc of it. With the extra weight of the diesel, it has lower numbers than the gasser max tow.

But if you're highway towing a majority of the time and can live inside the diesels tow rating, I'd 100% take it over the max tow V6 since the V6 towing gets not great MPG.
