Water in Passenger Floorboard???

Has anyone encountered this before?

'20 Overland, ordered 5/19, built 6/19, delivered 7/19.

We had heavy rain this past Saturday but, have had heavy rain like that before and NEVER had water in the passenger floorboard before, ever.

I checked around things like the passenger seat, DRY!!!, the dash area over where the water was, DRY!!!, all along the roof on that side, DRY!!!. I did swap out the SunRider top for the freedom panels in late November but, still, even with that, have never had water like this in the floorboard area and we've had a number of very heavy rain storms between then and now. It was pretty much centered in the area just in front of the passenger seat.

Any thoughts?

I made sure the freedom panels were secure (even cleaned the rubber seal) when I put them back in.

Check to see if the cabin air filter is wet. The water could be coming in through the cowl, if the drain (not sure about drains there) is stopped up.

Try cleaning the door seals, and flip the windshield forward, and clean those seals. If you have help, you can do it without taking the wipers off. It just needs to be tilted enough to get between it and the dash. Then, tighten it up good. Like has been said, also check the upper channel isn’t plugged.

I placed a catch pan under the area to see if anything gathers there as we're supposed to get flooding rains today and tonight. I was just out and about (or as they say in Canada, oot and aboot ? ) and noticed some water dripping down the passenger door, but far away from where the water gathered prior. This dripping was on the rear frame of the passenger door. Once the weather clears, I'll be pulling the panel from that side and checking all the seals and etc. to see whasupwiddat.

My 2020 JTR does the same thing you describe. I pulled panels on the side of the passenger foot well and could see it was coming down the tub from above. After further digging, I finally wound up laying about 4 inches of vacuum hose on top of the last 4 inches of the windshield seal where the Freedom Panel and windshield meet.

Put the seats down and check for wet carpet by the cab wall.

When my rear window started leaking, I couldn't tell with the seats up. A puddle appeared in the driver footwell by the accelerator. I was baffled. Finally found the leaking rear. The puddle in the front was caused by condensation from all the water let in by the rear glass.

I had the issue on my passenger side. The rubber door seal had a pinch in it. Toward the Front right where the top and bottom half of the ash board come together. I had water getting in, running down inside my dash panel and soaking the carpet from underneath the plastic floor trim.

I replaced the rubber door seal and the jeep doesn't leak any more.

check the alignment of the doors while you're at it. Doubt it would cause the leak but since you're around there anyway take a look and adjust if needed. At the very least it may help with wind noise

Thanks to all for responses so far.

I did notice water on the rear down frame of the passenger door, between it and the body. Nothing else was wet and after last night's deluge, the floor on the passenger side was quite wet...again

I removed the roof panel to check seals (and tried to clear the drain hole which was clear) and all was dry along the seals of the passenger side roof panel.

I am at a loss as to where the water is getting in but, it is

As a last resort, I'll probably take it to the stealership to see what they can find.

What's weird is that nothing else is wet...the rear seating floor, the carpeting near the door itself, the carpeting near the firewall, just that area where one puts their feet on the passenger floor board. Plus, I didn't drive it through the rain or any huge puddles so it's not a displaced floor drain.

Okay, so I pulled the tops and looked at the seals and they were intact, clean and DRY ? so the leaks aren't happening there.

We had a real good rain again last night so, this morning I went out to check things out and there was more water in the floor board. Looking at the passenger door, on the rear of it, there was evidence of water running down as well as that piece of plastic trim where you step into the vehicle was wet and there was some water squishing out from under it. No water in the rear seat floor pan, just the front.

I did check the drain port and it's clean and clear.

So, what can one do to remedy this problem? This is the first time this has ever happened in the 4 1/2 years I've owned this vehicle, so it's a brand new issue.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

So, I'm taking her to the stealership this coming Tuesday (1/23)to have them look at some of the seals that direct the water away from any seams or openings. All the gaskets, the door, the ones around the Freedom Panel, all look good, and are clean and still very pliable like they should be. I was told that there are a couple of other smaller gaskets or seals that can go bad and begin to leak. We'll see how good they are at diagnosing and repairing. I've had fairly decent service from these guys, where I bought it from initially. So, fingers crossed ???
