Nah, not always true, I owned a 2007 Hummer H3 Alpha for 12 years and never had an electrical issue of any kind.

I test drove the previous gen ZR2 Colorado and it was a great truck, only problem was it felt too similar to the vehicle I was leaving.
Comparing anything from 2007 to current quality wise is no comparison. Quality control within all the manufacturers, especially domestic, has gone way downhill since 2007 (pre plandemic). And all the new bells and whistles with sensor and software issues. All having issues.

It was insinuated that GM always has electrical issues, I was simply disputing that. YMMV across the board on all manufacturers.

Master Edit-- I have been talked out of it. :CWL:
Talk you (more) out of it?

Go look up what it costs to replace those shocks. Here, let me do it for you: $1,303.55
Oh, sorry, that's each not for a full set. When you need four new shocks that will run you $5,214.20 (plus tax).

... assuming it's reasonably financially responsible. ...
I'm glad you've been talked out of it. IMO, it is never financially responsible to take out a loan on a vehicle.

Check your inbox.
I wanted a DD 6 speed, but wife veto'd having a third car clogging the driveway.
park in the street. or be a man and park on the front yard. :like:

hopefully around springtime I can clear out our used car lot, get down to 2, and start the search again for a GTI in manual.

People Work?
I looked at them, but I'm leaning much more towards the 24 Tacoma. I do like the GMC styling slightly better than the Chevy.

It would be interesting to get your feedback post test-drive. I ended up parting with my EcoD Glady and spent a few weeks visiting a few Canyon and Colorado examples. This was a few months ago before any inventory was easily accessible. Their stunning looks drew me in, they both nailed it from that perspective.

Hoping out of my JT and into either felt like I was stepping out of a tank and into a bottom barrel rental car. Everything felt exceedingly cheap and I'm near certain an average sized person could rip nearly the entire interior out of one with their bare hands in under an hour.

If you do hop in one bang around with your fist on the door panels, dash, console etc. and you'll see what I mean. Bang on the body panels. Slide under the truck, everything that could be stamped is. I then learned that a mere pressure washer will dent the roof, a dryer will too. It's a new known issue they are trying to resolve, have a gander on google. These ridges are from a simple automated car wash:

I ended up passing of course and left that option shocked at how brittle a truck can be these days yet still be marketed as some ultra capable rig. If you're set on leaving the JT platform yet want a midsize and are in ZR2 bison budget territory, for sure take a hard look at the ranger raptor.
Just one of the well-known issues with this new generation Colorado/Canyon since September 2023. Roof buckling in car wash.

There is a service bulletin released about this issue, but I do not have access to it. According to my resources, the repair consists of straightening the sheet metal, removal of headliner and adding additional roof support/bracing. A big and tedious job, I guess.

The issue is not common on sunroof equipped models.

Steering is over assisted at 80mph and arm rests uncomfortable. I like how it rides and drives for anything less than an hour though.
I fixed the steering with a Fox ATS stabilizer which is adjustable to your needed.

I drive from MD to NC (6hrs) and to MD to ME (9-11 hrs) and it works for me.......yes I'm well aware thats subjective.

What kind of weirdo puts OEM back on when their suspension wears out?
I believe these are electronically controlled shocks, they plug into the computer.

To be fair, the ride is amazing.

The loan, the depreciation hit, the CA taxes, the fees, the CA registration (I'd expect over $1k/yr on a 50k purchase), the high interest, and likely no budging on the sale price.

2020 seems like a completely different era of time compared to now for car buying.

I came from Z71 Colorado (diesel) in March, to the Gladiator. No doubt the Colorado is a more comfortable road vehicle. I've also had a Blazer ZR2 back in the early 2000's, and a number of other GM vehicles.

GM electrical issues always pop up about 5 years in ...and get worse and worse. Every GM I've had. It's a 5-year and out vehicle, not one to keep for a decade.

They look cool, though. Can't blame you for switching.
I see nothing has changed since our 98 Jimmy. Great car till the problems started roughly year 3 and the transmission and ongoing electrical ghosts in the machine. My wife says she thinks it fell off the truck.

We finally got rid of it during the cash for junkers thing so made out. She got a Subaru, never let her down. I had to go buy a battery from Walmart just so it would drive in, one of the requirement. They gave me the battery back to bring back to Walmart. I had it towed to my house from my wife's (girlfriend at the time) house. electrical mess. So he's got something to look forward to. Oh, that was the last GM product we owned. It's been Subarus and Ram trucks and Jeeps and really no big issues all things considered, mostly oil and brakes. When I did have an issue in year six of my second Ram 1500, it was when the trade ins were unbelievable and they offered me so much money for it with 70K miles I couldn't believe it and got the next one. I've been in equity ever since...

Roof buckling from air blowing on it??? Wow. Reminds me of a friend of mine's "Le Car" years ago when another friend leaned on it and it dented the front fender. Don't these trucks also have hood flutter out on the highway? These are stupid problems we shouldn't have to deal with or even think about as a possibility. Of course, so is paint bubbling on hinges and hood edges.

I had a friend with a Mazda GLC, if you remember those, basically an econobox that will get you from here to there and hopefully back... Someone hit his rear quarter panel made a big dent like a foot across. I had him open the trunk, took my fist and whacked it hard. It popped back and you couldn't tell it had ever been hit. Now that was quality steel. Just not very much of it.
