I would like for Jeep to come up with a plan that would prevent a third grader from being able to steal my Jeep. Years ago, at least the thief would need to cut a few wires to get a vehicle started. Jeep has made it quite convenient for thieves now days. To be fair, most manufacturers have the same issue. Let us see Jeep be the first to tackle this on going problem.

Hello Jeep cares. Here's a topic that is ongoing here. You can easily search and find more. The first one I replied to I discounted any possibility of a jeep being stolen by plugging something into the connectors behind the glove box to steal it, until I watched a locksmith plug in a programmer, and in moments, have new key fobs programed that started my jeep, I asked him about what he had and it seemed to be available for anyone to purchase. So it looks like the new way is to simply get one, find a jeep and a spare fob, and have your pick on any jeep you want.

Is jeep aware that they made these so easy to steal? Is there any plans or discussions for some changes to help stop this? In part of the discussion below, I tossed in the thoughts of 3D print some kind of device to lock out easy access to this plug or to de-pin one or more of the wires needed, and it was mentioned after that, that there is more than one place to plug a programmer in to get access to the system.

  • Dealers are not fun.
Lobby to get rid of laws that don't allow manufacturers to sell directly to consumers. The worst part of buying a vehicle is dealing with dealerships. I should be able to build a jeep online, I get financing options directly from the FCA site, pick my option, vehicle is built and shows up at my door. No haggling, no humans, just my darn vehicle and I keep what little hair I have left.

  • Triple beep on idle.
Oh and I think it's Canada's fault but I shouldn't have to get beeped at 3 times when I leave my vehicle idling to help my kid in the door or something. If it's a US law as well, lobby to get rid of that, it's extremely annoying. At least the import vehicles have separate chime that's not so loud, but I love when I'm trying to move cars around in my driveway at 11PM and my jeep blares the horn 3 times because I stepped out for a second.

  • Bed 12V and USB with pure sinewave AC.
I'm lucky my cheaper EcoFlow battery accepts the non-pure sinewave power that the inverter apparently puts out, but if I upgrade to a better battery I'll probably not be able to charge it. As it is I have to put my batter in Slow AC charge mode so I don't draw more than the measly inverter can put out. There are a lot of reasons for having 12V and USB in the bed as well. This stuff is so cheap to do at a factory and such a hassle for me to do in a clean fashion after the fact.

  • "Modern" tech should be standard.
Led headlights, USB ports for the back seats, the larger touch screen, this is all cheap stuff, stop acting like it's high end technology.

  • Better engine options.
This one isn't that huge for me because I always drive like a much older gentleman, but there has to be an engine that provides more mid range acceleration (like 40-60) and better fuel efficiency. The transmission makes this feel better than my JK did but man I'm talking about a JK from 2013 that had the same engine. I know the future is 4xe, but I worry about what I see there. I would love to drive around town for virtually free though, so I could be convinced. I don't need a V8, I'd buy a muscle car if I wanted that, sorry guys...

  • Improve payload and towing capacity.
That new Ineos Quartermaster has a better payload and tow rating, I know that vehicle costs even more, but it seems like a category that should be beefed up.

  • Deal with the horror stories of waiting for parts for warranty repairs better and buyback more 4xe lemons to help ease the customer hostility.
I'm very nervous about the 4xe and ecodiesel nightmares I hear. Jeep doesn't care seems to be the theme in a lot of those scenarios.

Still very happy with my Gladiator, just not my monthly payment. ;)

  • Dealers are not fun.
This has been from the dawn of time, nothing will change here. MFGs can't sell direct.

  • Triple beep on idle.
I've seen others complain about this. What is this? Is this not able to turn off in the settings? I've turned all my audio "alerts" off because they're annoying.

  • "Modern" tech should be standard.
Correct. Anything that's been on the market for 20+ years isn't modern. And cold weather package should include headlight warmers.

  • Better engine options.
Everyone is in agreement with this.

  • Improve payload and towing capacity.
Can't. Doing so would 1) change the fundamental design of the Gladiator, which violates the command from C-level that it look like Wrangler as much as possible, and 2) move the Gladiator out of Class 1 trucks and into Class 2a, "competing" against full size 1/2 ton trucks. Marketing would s**t their pants, because there's nothing the Gladiator can do that a full size can't do better - except be a convertible.

I think Jeep should look at a redesign and base it off the original Gladiator. Or, even easier, just reskin a Ram 1500 like an old Gladiator (Gladiator Max? Maximus?).

?‍♂ who cares, it's already priced like a full size. I already said they should lobby against requiring dealerships, building the towing capacity up a bit doesn't seem like the most unrealistic thing in my points.

Does Jeep care? Or they just trying to create the longest tread for brownie points?
I had "death wobble" on the way home from the dealer. They were quite attentive and set up a case for me and were monitoring the situation. Fortunately, my dealer fixed it or did the regular, check everything including tires, balance etc. So, they didn't have to do anything as it is gone at the moment but they did respond and stayed in touch while I was dealing with it.

Add more presets for the XM channels.
Get a 2024 and UConnect 5 will give you as many as you want if you can get it all to work. Having that on my Ram 2500 tow beast, I rushed to buy a 23 Gladiator so I wouldn't get stuck with that big ugly screen and UConnect 5. You lose all intuitiveness, half the stuff don't work and the dealer can't fix it even under warranty, no weather or all that stuff, but you can have about a hundred pre-selected channels. I am so happy I have the 2023 with the UConnect 4. IT WORKS great. Oh, I also got the 8.4 screen on my 2500 as I don't like the big 12 incher there either.

1) Fix the #1 most common problem/complaint people have with the JL/JT: ESS-related battery issues!

I get that ESS is necessary now due to govt. regulations, so getting rid of it is not an option, but at least RELOCATE THE AUX BATTERY to a different place where it can be changed out in just a few minutes instead of the hours it currently takes. I know there's no room under the hood for it - or you would have put it there to start with, but how about behind the glove box under the dash or under/behind the rear seat? Also, how about re-engineer the system so that WHEN the aux battery fails, it doesn't also kill the main battery and leave us stranded. Better built-in battery diagnostics would also be helpful in preventing that - or at least in letting us know that the battery needs to be changed before it fails.

2) Fix the #2 most common problem/complaint people have with the JL/JT: Ditch the weak halogen headlights/fog lights.

NO vehicle in 2024 should come with halogen headlights - let alone one that costs as much as JL/JTs do. LED headlights (and all other lights actually) should be standard.

3) Solve the valvetrain issues with the 3.6 Pentastar once and for all. I get that this has been largely remedied in the current engine, but it's still there. That it only happens to a small percentage of the engines currently built is a small comfort to those it still happens to. If it happens after the warranty has expired - it is catastrophic - and is the reason I will probably get rid of my Gladiator before the factory powertrain warranty expires - and I will not buy another vehicle with that engine in it unless that issue has been 100% eliminated. Also ditch the plastic oil filter housing in favor of a metal one that will never leak/fail.

4) Fix the bubbling paint problems around hinges and on hood seams due to improperly prepped aluminum panels and/or galvanic corrosion. You know how to do it right. DO IT.

Is anyone forcing the purchase of a Gladiator with halogens? A lot of people usually replace the headlights anyway.

That's no excuse. In 2024, LED headlights should be standard in ALL vehicles. Why should anyone pay $40k-$50k+ for a new JL/JT and then have to turn around and replace the headlights because they come with headlights from the 1980's?

  • Stop allowing Uconnect to charge for map updates, especially when they hit shortly after purchase. Seriously they should be updated automatically and without cost.
  • Tagging on to an earlier post - Allow us to order features without forcing a package on us. Packages are great if they are lower cost and contain what you want but they always include things I don't want to make them more expensive than necessary.
    • Don't get rid of packages, just don't make some options only available through a package.
  • Don't limit the optimal offroad features to the high-end trims. These are Jeeps, all Wrangler and Gladiator trims should be able to get lockers, sway bar disconnects and 35's from the factory.
  • The ARB air compressor option should be available on all trims
  • If the above are out of the question, then how about creating a couple new trims with realistic packages and less frill. Include the air compressor as an option with these trims:
    • Such as a trim/package that is perfect for trail runners - rear lockers, sway bar disconnects with 35's, aux switches and no electric windows or seats. No big screen, no lane assist or other city options. (maybe a "trail" package available to all existing trims)
    • Another trim for crawlers that is much the same as above but with front and rear lockers, half-doors standard, and with 35's or 37's
  • Everyone wants a comfortable Jeep, but we don't need you to make the standard features align with a BMW. I would much rather have a more reasonably priced Jeep with fewer creature comforts & more capability off-road standard.
  • I would also love to see additional connectivity options - such as build in a location for GMRS/Ham/CB radios to be mounted easily. That is not only the place to quickly install where it is usable but also where power and antenna routing is ready & simple.
  • Finally, make the steel bumpers (front and rear) standard on more than the X trim. Or at least make the option less ridiculously priced so we don' t have to buy aftermarket to avoid breaking the bank on a bumper.

People replace because the LED option isn't available to all trims or is so expensive they opt out. LED lights should be standard IMO.
