Hi All,

Finally able to buy a Gladiator! Super excited and I love it! However, it is a Sport with no bells and whistles - no auto door locks or alarm - everything manual. Because nothing locks with a click of a button, I will open it up with half doors in the spring. I had the dealer put on a leveler lift and max tow package so it's under warranty, but that's it for mods so far.

So... what is the best way to get additional security?

Does anyone use a steering wheel lock to deter theft? If so, favorites?

Any other security tips?

the dealer put on the "max tow package" or a "tow package"? The max tow isn't just a hitch. its heavy duty engine cooling, Dana M220 and M120 widetrac axles with 4.10 gearing. If that's what they did then hell yeah but I'm skeptical. anyway, i recommend a Tazer mini JL. u can program a pin into the thumb pad on your steering wheel. so it won't start unless the pin is entered

The link didn't work for me. But my sticker says:

Engine: 3.6L V-6 24V VVT
heavy duty dana 44 front and rear
3.73 axle ratio
Electronic Trailer Sway Control
Electronic Stability Control

I think those are all that would apply to towing, but I'm just a girl so...

I've asked the dealer for a detailed list of what they did to the jeep.

The Max Tow package, or any Tow Package, is not available for the dealer to add. They are factory install only. They can add the receiver to the back, but it's not the same as adding a Tow package.

Horse trailer - in case of emergency only - not a regular job.

This is the hitch they put on - say the sport is already prepped for hauling 7650

It's only rated for 7650 if it comes Factory equipped with the Max Tow package. The major components of the Max Tow package are cooling fan and alternator upgrades, along with progressive rate springs to handle the weight. These components can be separately added, after the fact, but it doesn't change the rated towing capacity or the numbers on the factory printed door labels.

Wow, they’re scum if they’re trying to pass off bolting on the Mopar receiver as being the same as Max Tow. Any ordinary person would read that and be totally unaware that they’re not actually “properly equipped” as caveated in that blurb

To be fair, the receiver is quality and I’d have no hesitation moving a horse trailer around the yard and in emergencies. Just know the cooling isn’t there.

I couldn't find any numbers other than the weight of truck on the door label. I'm still waiting to see what they actually did but my hopes are not high.

If I didn't love it so much I would give it back! I won't bore you with the delays they've provided.

It would only be in case of fire and my 1996 F250 not starting. But because it's so old I want to have a back up plan.
