There are two vents on the back of the cab (behind rear seats). Not sure if they are freely vented to atmosphere or if there is a flapper/damper. It's possible the low pressure area between the cab and cap is creating oscillations in pressure and relieving through the vents (into the cab). The tape mentioned above would be a cheap way to check if the height (and gap) of the cab is having an impact.

Yes, those are the vents I’m talking about. They are free to air if you look down from the top of your bed. If you look down the crack and close your doors, you can see them flare out.

This is what I’m working with

Cut a water weenie in half and put it between the cab and the bed. Make a highway run and see if it changes.

So I think you confirmed the issue. Now what to do about it?

Yeah, that's tough. I am extremely disappointed in the alucab right now. A lot of the images I see there's a massive rooftop tent spanning the void, so no wonder there's no issues. I've only had it for about a month, but I doubt there's any amount of refunding AVO will do if I want to swap for a smartcap (which I would honestly do at this point, having the bed cap stick up 3" above the roofline is absurd).

Now I am considering buying

The fairing seems too arched so I don't know if this will do. I might try the pool noodle suggested above and see if that helps at all.

That’s nuts I have a contour canopy and have not experienced that at all. Stinks you’re displeased with it. I love mine. I got mine from avo too. But their sales department went in the crapper once Norm left. Never want to have to deal with them again. Maybe call them too and see if they have any suggestions at least.

The problem I see with the widget is…collects grit and then grinds it into the paint job.

Another option might be to put an aero load bar across the roof and mount it low, like a spoiler in front of the canopy leading edge.

Maybe something like this to get air over the topper?

JcrOffroad: JT Roof Rack | Jeep Gladiator (2020+)
I was thinking the same thing…. But with the rhino rack or front runner platforms…. Add some more utility. Not a huge fan of any racking system that mounts purely to the gutters, have yet to see one that mounts that way with a company willing to state a “dynamic” load rating…. Front runner and rhino are the only two I know of built well enough for solid claims. ???

I’d really like to be able to fit in the garage. I’m already on. 2.5 lift with 37s. I’ll try the pool noodle above the vents and see if that can be workable and if not I’ll have to look at the roof racks or more drastic changes like switching to smart cap

I think the rear seats create a buffer for those vents. Try covering the vents with something like dense fabric to incompletely block them and see if that works.

Just saw this post. I have the first gen Ali Cab canopy and don't have any issues. It looks like your cap is higher than mine. I'll have to look at it tomorrow and compare.
BTW I also have my rear seat deleted...

Maybe try and just tape over the vents just to see what happens. Maybe it will fix the problem.

I have a contour canopy but no rear seat delete, I do not have any issues with the vents or buffeting.

I do have leaking issues with the canopy that AVO has not been able to fix yet. I need to take it back in to them in a few weeks.
