I am new to jeep and this forum and I have been reading lots of comments about the 24. I know some OG Jeepers are not happy with the upgrades but I just built a 23 and 24. Here's what i came up with. I think I was pretty accurate with the builds.
23: rubicon, steel bumper, front camera, body color fenders, standard wheels and tires, body color top, leather trimmed seats, wireless speaker, hard top headliner, cold weather group, advanced safety group, aux switches, active safety group, premium LED lighting group, trailer tow package, 3.6 auto, 4:10 standard, 4:1 rock Trac, = $73, 430.
24; rubicon X(front steel bumper, front camera, body color fenders, body color top, power heated leather seats, connect 5 12.3 infotainment with alpine premium audio system, wireless speaker, hardtop headliner, cold weather group, advanced safety group, active safety group), premium LED lighting group, 4:10, 4:1 rock Trac, aux switches, standard wheels and tires,3.6 auto = $67,985
There was no upgrade for infotainment for 23, so that is an increase that's not calculated in 23 that you get in 24.

Tell me if I am wrong.

I am very excited to get my gladiator as I have been wanting one since they came out. I just finally come to the point where I am ok with getting rid of my Silverado.
I ordered the 24 rubicon X with a few extras( mats, spray bedliner, windshield tie, trail kit) MSRP $68,355.

Add Max Tow for 1995 and they force Trailer Tow Package with Aux Switch for 1295. Duplicate lines, 240 amp and Class 4 hitch in in each package?

No AEV Upfits on the configurator. I wonder if there are plans to add them. Wasn't Jeep supposed to start a big aftermarket program where you could customize your Jeep from the factory?

What I was looking for. The AEV looked good on the 24 preview. I really want to see what the options will be for it.

To match what I have now, I have to go with the higher end stuff- with the same packages I have, I'm looking at 70K vs. the 62K MSRP my 2022 had and the 56K my 2020 had.

I'd never use lockers or the electric sway bar disconnect, but little choice to get the same things I have now in my Overland.

So many things used to be individual selections - you could buy just the tonneau cover, for example.
You can't even get leather in the lower levels. (Sport/Sport S - not sure about Willys but can't get body color stuff with the Willys so it's out)
You must go to the X to get body color roof and fender flares, so starting with the X of a Rubicon or Mojave, I end up at 70K by the time I add the same equipment I have now.
That's a bunch of crap.
Tried to build a Mojave - no leather, no painted roof or fender flares, what's up with the no leather in anything at all other than the X packages?
So you must get either a Rubicon X or Mojave X to get leather (and painted roof)
EDIT - found the leather - it's considered a sill guard, I guess - it's between the sill guard options!
Good grief, this thing is not ready for prime time.
I couldn't see not being able to get a Mojave with leather - they hid it. The seats only show cloth. So if you want leather, go down to the sill guard choices, that's where it will be.

Jeep is really losing me on this.

I don't want painted fenders or a top or leather but do want SelecTrac. Paying $2k for the under seat box and trail rails and a tonneau? I'm putting a cap on it.

I'm not a huge fan of the new grille with hydro from the renderings either.

The problem is, IF you can build exactly the same yes it is cheaper. BUT most would end up with alot of things they do not want. It is only a good value if you want or have a use for it.

To get the equivalent of what I have, sticker of 60,500 I spend 62870 now.

I think it is a HUGE mistake to force painted top and flares on the X. Combination of price and that would rule an X out right off the bat. It should be cheaper base and they be options. I think they are not understanding the market again and will have an even worse year in 2024 for the JT.

I don't even see SelecTrac as an option with any level - from Sport to Mojave X
It's one of the biggest reasons I traded my 20 for my 22 I have now.
I wonder if this is still a work in progress as I can't even get it to show any pictures at all once I start messing with options - in any browser I have.

I hear you on not being able to get things you only want. I guess I look at it as I get a little extra and maybe I will use it. You get it and don't need it or you don't get it and need it. Everyone has their reasons and I get it. I was trying to show that when guys/girls are looking at a 23 vs 24, it is cheaper. Believe me, I fought with myself not to grab a 23 back in December. I am happy that I didn't pull the trigger back then.
BTW, select trac is in the description in the Auto trans. If 4H auto mode is selected trac.

Yea if you do more information on the auto transmission for the X packages, Mojave included you see the full time 4h selectrac in there.

There are insane deals on 2023s and you actually have an engine choice of 3.6 or 3.0 diesel. Dirt Road Cred surmised the reason the 2024 builder was so delayed was because there are thousands of 2023s still on lots.

2024 looks to be just a giant center console screen and electric seats. No Extreme package and all that entails like the Wrangler gets or the full float axle. What a bummer.

However new is new. Good luck to all who order.

I had to re-write this reply 3 4 times to not sound like a jerk, so I'm really not trying to sound like a jerk- if you knew me, you'd know I'd say this just about word for word if I was standing next to you saying it instead of sitting behind a keyboard:

The logic of yours that I quoted above is so far off base from how most car buyers operate that it must be addressed. If this logic were how car buying worked for the masses, you would regularly see a far more even mix of regular and top trim levels. Your morning commute would consist largely of BRaptors, Civic Rs, F-150 Raptor Rs, Camaro 2SS, Charger and Challenger Hellcats, Shelby GT Mustangs, and Wrangler 392 Rubicons. But you don't. Because a 2x multiplier on a base MSRP doesn't make people happy. It makes people go to a different vehicle.

The fact that a potential Gladiator buyer must now spend $20,000 more than they would have 2 years ago to get Overland level features- now only available in a Rubicon X- is silly. And sure, you were right that the absolute top, most spec'd-out model might be a bit cheaper this year. But that's paying $68k(!) for a mid-sized truck. Saying that it makes it an easier pill to swallow because the person interested in the Overland trim gets lockers... that they might use... is well, I don't get it.

Ford sells 770,000 F-150s a year. There are lockers on about 5% of them. Luxury features are standard in all but the lowest trim levels, and available at every level as options on F-150s. Jeep just removed those features for anyone not willing to buy features that they won't use. Its a forced moved- migrate to spend more, or go away.

Jeep is counting on people that have more money than sense to make up the bulk of the "X" purchases. It is going to destroy demand for the Gladiator because people who can accurately assess their needs and refuse to over-spec a vehicle are going to walk.

With Jeeps ridiculous 2024 pricing, Jeep has killed off (most of) their existing customer base who would've traded in their current 2020/21 MY gladiators. An Overland to Rubicon in 2021 was about a $7k difference, now it's $15k-$20k difference. Needles to say, I'll be driving my Overland until the wheels off!

Same. I had intentions of eventually trading my '21 6MT sarge green JTR for an identical one with a diesel, but, no diesel and these prices are ridiculous. No thanks. I'll be keeping mine as I love it anyway.

It’s not that I like the grille but I understand it is a huge improvement for cooling. There’s a thread somewhere in here discussing it and have been looking at it for my 3.0L purely for that reason of 20-25% more air flow. They probably had to do that to help cool the 4xe which is a powertrain I just can’t understand. I tried it in a GCL and it was clunky at best, poorly integrated, and overly complicated. You get better gas mileage and reliability in a diesel with a less complicated powertrain. To boot, if you don’t spend the extra $2k to get a proper charger, it takes 15hours to charge the vehicle for 20miles of range which is probably even worse in our barn door aerodynamic-disabled JTs.

Seems like the only true upgrade from 23’ to ‘24 is if you like the tablet glued to your dash and if you want power seats which, let’s face it, some genius on here will find a way to retrofit on the older models. The good news is, with seemingly less options and more standard features they might be able to have only one wire harness across all trim levels which will make upgrading it way easier than now where there are countless wire harnesses specific to every individual trim and option. So let’s say you turn 65 and love your Gladiator but gotta have those power seats, it should be a breeze to install because all the wiring is right there….on second thought it’s Stellantis so that last bit is probably wishful thinking.

I just looked at the 2024 Buyers Order Guide and it is coded that if Max Tow package is selected, you have to get the Trailer Tow and Aux Switch Group package.

That is basically charging $1295 for the Aux Switch package that was $400 previously when it was a stand alone package. That is borderline criminal to not give credit for the overlap items.

i haven’t dug into the other packages but I can say if I make an apples to apples comparison for an X package you are coming in cheaper than a 23.

the problem here is that not everyone wants those options.

with a Mojave by the time you add some of the options in, you are already at the price of a Mojave X.
