Both you and the shop are in a rough spot because they were trying to do you a favor saving a few bucks.

This is precisely why I include all bearings and seals in every gear job regardless of how many miles the vehicle has on it! I replace them and assume the liability so that I can warranty the whole job without question of who is responsible.

That said, most likely the seals were on their way out anyway and since they made it 6mo after the job.......I seriously doubt the tech damaged your seals.....These trucks are known for this?
Same here....any time I remove the carrier for any reason, all seals and bearings. Full "kit".

Hi. I have 2022 gladiator Mojave. I did regear through local off road shop down in Orange County, CA about half a year ago. My axle seal started leaking recently from driver side rear and I am kinda jammed in between now.

I asked the shop if they could rework it under warranty because I think the regear job might have done damage to the seal(what I’m told by my mechanic friend in different state). And they denied that their job would cause the leak, also if it did, then I would see leak right after the job. I also think the regear job has caused no damage to the seal.

Now, if the leak is due to defect from factory(I heard mojaves leak alot lol), I can take it for manufacturer warranty. BUT I have regear job done on it and if dealer says it’s the cause, even if no one can prove or make connection between axle seal leak and regearing, they wouldn’t fix the issue for me.

I want to ask what people have done on their regeard gladiator for axle seal leak?

thank you.
I know it sucks, but axle warranty is void once regeared. However, you can give a dealer a shot but beware that they might charge you a diagnostic fee.

I agree with this... play dumb, state that the seals leak... chances are they wont detect the gear change, let them fix it... worst case you pay a few hundred bucks to fix the leak.... move on.

I could fix it for under $50 (assuming bearing and seal would cost less than $50) and the time taken wouldn't be much - remove wheel/tire, remove caliper, remove rotor, 4 bolts, slide axle out (that's the basics, anyway)

On the other hand, a dealership will replace the axle shaft assembly - the shaft, with seal and bearing already installed.
So yeah, a dealership may be several hundred.

if it were mine, the choice would be simple if the dealership denied warranty.

Take it back to the dealer and don't say a word about being regeared.

I had a client who had his Tacoma regeared at a shop in another state. The pinion seal leaked so he took it to the local dealer to get repaired....they replaced the 3rd member under warranty and called him when it was done......Doh!

Just hope that they don't go and replacing the whole axle ?
Early on with the right axle shaft seal leak, that's exactly what was done in some cases. Record of it in the forums.

Well, I just took mine in for the second time... fingers crossed this one "sticks." I just re-geared over the holidays and if they have to replace the entire axle I'm going to guess they won't order one with a 5.13 in it from Dana.

... And likely once they find out that I re-geard they will likely deny coverage anyway.

I’ve ordered a set of Dana 44 Spicer chromoly axle shafts both left and right. It comes pre-assembled, and won’t have to deal with axle seal again lol thank you guys for opinions!

Looks like I'm in the same boat as everyone else, was looking at me rear axle last Friday and noticed the leak. Checked it out last night and I was down about 1.25 liters of oil, I'm figuring the leak started during the winter so I wasn't looking at things too closely. I have the seal to replace, just crossing my fingers I don't have any other damage.

You'll need seal and bearing.......and maybe a press or Dremel or torch if not a press. Other damage unlikely.

Thanks for replying I'm going to get the bearing ASAP, BIL has access to a press so I'll be good there. I'll just have to monitor the fluid level until I can get the repair done.
