Same here....any time I remove the carrier for any reason, all seals and bearings. Full "kit".Both you and the shop are in a rough spot because they were trying to do you a favor saving a few bucks.
This is precisely why I include all bearings and seals in every gear job regardless of how many miles the vehicle has on it! I replace them and assume the liability so that I can warranty the whole job without question of who is responsible.
That said, most likely the seals were on their way out anyway and since they made it 6mo after the job.......I seriously doubt the tech damaged your seals.....These trucks are known for this?
