I have the Weigh Safe drop hitch and highly recommend it. I've never towed with the JT but I have countless times with the Weigh Safe on other vehicles. Fit, finish and quality are second to none with the Weigh Safe, not cheap though.
I have the b and h stow and go, I think in an 8 inch version. I can’t recommend it more. And they certify it for use upside down for rises as well. I use it for both. It’s great. My version has the 2” and 2 5/16” balls.
I'll add them to the research list! thank you both

I like the pull pin adjustment method with the b and h. I adjust mine differently depending on how much weight is in my bed.

I've got the B&W Tow and Stow on both my trucks. I have multiple trailers with different size hitches, so it's nice to just flip it around for whatever trailer I'm towing. On the Gladiator I usually store it under the back seat when I'm not using it.
Towed my 16' cargo and the only problem I had was when I was in strong cross winds. Felt like I was being pushed around a little.
Love the adjustable height for different loads too. Even with the max tow springs the difference in squat is pretty dramatic. With the pin design you can just put a jack under the tongue and dial it in.

Can of worms here........
I agree that keeping the trailer as close to the vehicle is very important, all sorts of leverage issues to deal with.
Neighbor just got a nice aluminum URIAH class 5 drop hitch for his 2500 (off of eBay), it is nice!! Best part is the light weight, crazy difference. Personally, I would not even consider a steel one after seeing his. Every pound saved is a pound saved and I am not getting any younger.
I pull 2,000-5,000 lb trailers with my Rubicon. Air bags in the rear made a huge difference in the harmonics even with the light trailer.
Search around, you can beat Amazon's prices. In our area we have Red Neck Trailers, of course they ship nationwide.

Get a measurement from bottom of reviver hitch to top of ball, I have a couple that might work , I think they are Andersen aluminum, bunch of us East Coasters are heading out to Wildhobo’s garage for spark plug install maybe then…..Jack

Seriously, this place has been very generous to me , I’ll send one if it fits Suburbans and Tahoes had real high frame hitches needed big drops for trailers , I will not need them…Jack

I can see it now, put my foot on the ball to step up foot slides off I end up with 40 stitches 20 per side…. I just know myself.

Poor photo of a fat calf. I used to have a nice 4” hole there. Good doctoring pulled from 4 directions and made it look like an eagle about to grab something. It was from 1990 or so.

A cautionary tale.
The farther the hitch ball is from the rear axle
the greater the leverage the trailer has on steering.
A Gladiator already has a long tail end.
An adjustable drop hitch extends it another 2 to 3 inches farther out.

I could be wrong, I often am,
but death wobble takes on a whole new meaning
when a heavy trailer begins to sway
and push your tail end around.
Something I never want to happen again.
No longer than some trucks I've had.......
And trailer sway is 100% different. You can apply the trailer brakes and come out of trailer sway (DO NOT apply the truck's brakes!!)

Better, if you tow and load to prevent sway, it's not going to sway. Sway comes from mistakes and not properly spreading the weight in a trailer. A properly loaded trailer won't sway.
Sway is when the trailer is going faster than the tow vehicle (can be proven by looking at the path the trailer tires take vs. what the tow vehicle tires take)
So if you apply the trailer brakes only, you slow the trailer and drag it back into line.
Some WDH move the ball back a ways, too.
I agree, I try to keep the ball itself as close to the tow vehicle as possible, but if you tow properly, it's only an issue in an emergency - and knowing what to do by pushing that trailer brakes only button - you can pull out of it easily. (if you use the Curt Echo, PLEASE buy their optional button! don't wait until you really wish you had it)
