None of your business :)
Still discovering my Rubby but found out mine (and 23 onwards) don't have the older Fox 2.0 shocks (red). Was this a cost cutting move by Jeep to move to a inhouse cheaper shocks? Not sure who makes these on mine.

Though I do enjoy the street driving and have no complaints with whatever shocks came with it.....just curious as Fox reputation is well known in the off-road world. My now-traded Ford Ranger Tremor had the fox shocks and it served me very well for 30k.

TIA!

The Rubicon Fox shocks had a Fox label on them. They were custom manufactured to Jeep's specifications by Fox. They were replaced by the solid red shocks, and possibly replaced again with something else.

You can have my old Fox's for free. they have 8k on em. I swapped to Red bodies. JK you don't want em, they are underdampened like A MF! Huge miss on FOX's part. Mojave 2.5s are killer, Rubi 2.0 absolute ass. You can still have tho if you want.

The mojave shocks are the only oem shocks on any Jeep worth retaining in my opinion. A stock Rubicon will clear most aftermarket shocks with a 10" stroke. The stockers have a 7.17" stroke if I remember correctly. Even the red bodies felt under dampened to me. A $400 set of bilsteins or $700 set of fox 2.0s will not only improve the dampening over stock they'll give you ~30% more down travel with no other mods. Replacing the shocks should be the number 1 mod if you don't plan on lifting (obviously you don't want to but twice so you'd pick up even longer shocks with the lift) on any Jeep in my opinion.

everything OE feels under dampened with the Mojave shock as the competition. Its weird going back to any truck with non internal bypass and progressive dampening. I never thought my Jeep would make my Buddy's GX460 on Icons feel less stable and confident at speed. I was worried when i went Jeep I'd have trouble keeping pace on the fast stuff cus every one told me IFS was king outside of technical crawling and i would rattle to death over 25 mph offroad in a Jeep. Well that was fuckin lie! 4HI, Offroad +, and im gone! floats like a dream over pretty much everything. Hit 62 mph on the sand once, woah momma. That was a life changing experience. Like taking a 911 to track day type of experience. Meanwhile my other buddy in a GX470 on OMEs was eating shit at 30 mph. His ass was POGO turned up to 10. hilarious to watch, mortifying to experience.

The mojave is very impressive at speed. We've hit 80+ in the desert and it's smooth as glass. Crested 1 hill on the throttle at 70mph and the speedo shot up to 100mph before I could lift. Landed smooth and kept on trucking. Of course we've had the JLUR up to similar speeds out there and it's definitely under dampened. Every time one of the bronco fans are on here talking about how much better it is at speed I offer to meet in the desert and find out. Having driven a bunch of different rigs in the desert I am confident that stock for stock it would look like trx/Raptor> bronco Raptor>mojave>pretty much any full sized truck with a v8 and ifs> and then things like the 4runner/bronco/etc with ifs with the JLU not nearly as far behind them as people think. The standard short arm ifs is way over rated for its off road speed capability and has more in common with a Honda civic than a trophy truck or ultra 4 car than the ifs fans (usually who never actually push speed off road) want to admit or understand.

The MOPAR spec built Fox shocks on the Rubi are not worth having.

If you go to Fox and get THEIR shock that fits the JT you'll get a much better shock.

I believe the red shock is a Monroe product.

We are often solo so I don't have to wait for anyone. We bought 40 acres in northern AZ in January and it's out about 15 miles of dirt road from the pavement so I'll get even more time bombing around the desert in the coming years.

100% agree... I have the factory 21' Rubicon shocks and they're pretty terrible. They'll be getting replaced shortly with Bilsteins or Falcons.

23 Red rubi shocks are much better than the 22 oem fox, even the fox upgrades you get via a TSB for bottoming out on the diesel, I know have all 3....
If youre stock, get or keep the red 23's

It's been the retirement plan for years, to build in the high desert. I'm still 14 years away from retirement but we were in a position to buy the land. The building will come but it's great just to get out and camp on my own land a half dozen times a year.
