I believe the 2024 one piece grille with camera mount will fit the 2023, but I'd like confirmation if possible. Additionally, will the 2024 backup camera that is suitable for systems with a front camera fit the 2023 spare tire mount?

Is your Jeep a Gladiator or a Wrangler?

Edit: I just saw you have a Wrangler. This thread is specifically for the Gladiator. The Wrangler system is slightly different than the Gladiator so you should look for components that are Wrangler specific

It's a 2dr Wrangler Rubicon. I hope I'm not out of line asking these questions on a Gladiator forum

No worries, just wanted to make sure you buy the correct components because this upgrade isn't cheap.

I don't think the front camera was an option in 2023, so there isn't a kit to install one.
2023 Wranglers could be had with the front trailcam. DO NOT buy a Gladiator CVPM. Wranglers use a different part.

Really?? I didn’t know that, what do they use, does it integrate with the original backup camera we had and the trail cam? Otherwise in my writeup in use mostly JL stuff not JT stuff.

I am not sure why they're all different but they are. Example the 2020 uses a different part. I bought it by mistake and it would not work with my 8.4. Soft buttons would not work. The correct 2021+ CVPM worked, but that part # is only specified for Gladiators 2021 - 2023.

It's just the codebase that is loaded onto them, they're physically identical.

The front camera part is the same across all even through 2024. Backup cams are different.

Fascinating…it blows my mind how many different parts Stellantis uses for the same applications in slightly different vehicles. No wonder they are not doing well financially. I totally understand upgrades (20 vs 21-23) but this change is just stupid. Kind of like having three different center consoles (not colors just design for options) for the same damn vehicle.

It's way easier now that some guys have relocated the CVPM to a better spot than factory. You can't break anything.

Guys like @Alc eliminated the removal of the back seats and all of the rear trim panels...shaving hours off the install and 30 broken interior trim clips.

I have no freaking clue why Jeep made it so dumb in the Gladiator. In the Wrangler the CVPM is installed in the center console area and @Alc figured this out. The CVPM installation in the rear cab was the single most challenging part because it's just a nightmare. longer camera cables....interior disassembly...seat removal.....all that is gone.

Some cliff notes for future readers:

1. Put the CVPM in the Wrangler location. You'll need Wrangler parts that @Alc discovered OR put it under the front passenger seat using your own skill. Putting it in the factory Gladiator location is a complete waste of time, resources, and sanity. POINTLESS.

2. Adjust the video cable lengths given this new CVPM mount location and tell @Jimmy07 where you put it. Pay him for the harness. It's easier than doing it yourself.

3. If you have factory INSTALLED Aux switches tell Jimmy this and power the CVPM with your passenger kickpanel ignition Aux lead. If not use Jimmy's way which is a fuse piggyback at the PDC....firewall penetration required. Tell @Jimmy07 the CVPM location and where you will power the CVPM. You will ground it at the stud in the front passenger kick panel. You will hit the CAN bus under the glovebox. Jimmy will just need to know where you intend to grab power. Pay the man.

4. For the front cam cable....use 2 cables. 1 short one that is enough to clear the grille. Male / Female that one in an accessible spot so you can take the grille off easily in the future. Auto trans....use the driver firewall empty clutch grommet for the camera cable. Manual..... find a penetration.

5. SO MANY variations with washer hoses. Read the threads. The 3.6 V6 USA Gladiator is the most documented. Diesels and non US Gladiators are different.

No one is going to make a kit for this as it isn't one size fits all. Different CVPMs based on year, different washer hose setups based on 3.0 vs 3.6 OR USA vs Australia etc, different transmissions and needs of firewall penetrations, different personal wants and needs of camera cable disconnects, CVPM location preferences.... @AllMoparParts.com imagine kitting this!

That said everything has been covered.

Thanks for the additional info @ecidiego
I have a Wrangler and I was initially thinking of replacing console harness with the one that has video cables and installing CVPM in the factory location (plus a combination of factory and custom cables). Then I figured that it will be so much easier and cheaper to put it somewhere near passenger's kickpanel since you have aux power, CAN connector star, and XY310A connector right there.

I see some posts mentioning that the CVPM has to be programmed and that the camera will be bound to VIN. Is this true?
My understanding is that CVPM is just a video switch, controlled remotely via CAN-IHS, and the only thing that needs programming is the main computer, so it knows that CVPM is present.
Also, since adding Trail Cam option (XNY) to dealer's VIN database is almost impossible, I understand that I will have to program every time they reset my car's configuration, correct? Does that happen often?
