You can smack the piss out of the steel it'll be fine. I'm still trying to make heads of your originally statement. When i do I'll see if i got an old trick bouncing in my noodle somewhere.
Which part? Happy to clarify. It was a couple of contributing factors that made for a nasty project.

Kind of sorted. The plan is in place. Dynatrac did the opposite of stand behind their parts, support, and instructions. They’re going in the trash. They even knew about the split ring failures, and never reached out to customers to warn them of catastrophic failures of safety parts. But they would send me replacement snap rings. How gracious of them <—sarcasm. :) the best they would do after their instructions specified to install lowers first (wrong unless you have the smallest press in the world) is give me $20 off of two new joints. I spoke to the same individual person today that I called prior to the install. I called to ask what press they prefer with their joints. He said whatever the auto parts store has is fine. Zero mention of the fact that I’d need a very short press in height, if I want to follow their instructions. Hell. There was no mention of the fact that I might have defective snap rings. But he did say he remembered talking to me. Wow.

The new plan will likely to replace the joints with @Metalcloak. Disappointing, but I’d rather trust the parts to be durable and safe.

This was officially my first and last Dynatrac purchase.

Update: I purchased the ball joints from @Northridge4x4 at the end of March. I called them to explain the situation, but was clear that this IS NOT a Northridge issue. It’s a Dynatrac issue. They conveyed that I’m not the first customer in the recent past that had had issues with Dynatrac standing behind their products, and also said others have had issue with their customer service. I’m relaying this third hand, but they said they’d recently been acquired, so maybe that explains a drop in quality control. Northridge said they are going to contact product management at Dynatrac to try to find a resolution. As always, I can’t be happier with @Northridge4x4. They always exceed my expectations.

No surprise, @Metalcloak was amazing today. They talked through my situation, use case, etc, and reassured my every concern. They even went into their bay to tell me what press and cup sizes they use. At one point I said “Thanks, I don’t want to take up more of your time”. Their response was I’m done when you’re done. I’ll stay with you until everything is addressed. :) That’s customer service!

In light of all the crap by Dynatrac, it's a good thing in the end. This thread will probably be referenced and searched for by others in the future which is the important thing so others don't fall into the same trap. Props to @Northridge4x4 and @Metalcloak they have always had fantastic service in my experiences as well. I bet these joints will last you a long time and without any worry of things falling apart on the road, or trail.

It's because of threads like this that I spend so much money with them. Now if I could just talk them into a demo install at Jeep Invasion.

I agree. I’m frustrated at paying double at this point for ball joints, but not as frustrated as I’d be if the dynatrac joints failed. @Northridge4x4 emailed me to say they spoke with management at Dynatrac, and that they were going to contact me. I’ve not heard from them at this point.

I’ll be very happy to have more of their parts installed. I have no doubt that I’ll be very happy with them.

You're one broken bolt away from turning a 2 hour job into a 3 day shit show. In your case. It was a snap ring and a sleeve.
