Exactly. I am concerned about towing any amount of weight with it. But mine still hasn't exploded through the floor. When this one wears out and I replace it, definitely going aftermarket, and I wouldn't be as hesitant to tow a trailer afterwards. That's why I asked if you'd seen anything increase in problems coming in now that they're getting older. Guys who are turning the wrenches are going to be the guys to give the best honest opinion on a mechanical subject.
Only seen one fail. Replaced at 7k miles in a mojave after he got stuck in the mud, then pulled someone out while in reverse. Destroyed the clutch, unavoidable with any clutch, got jeep to cover it though.

You don't pull people out in reverse in an auto, either. Bad thing to do. Lucky he didn't ruin more than the clutch.

Just throwing this out. Does it seem like the 6MT is more of a passenger car transmission and not a light duty truck transmission? Or are the engineers and designers at Jeep purposely using an inadequate transmission to provide more reason stop producing the manual?

you might be onto something. The 6MT clutch is hilariously undersized. It works great in the 2 door JLs but that may be why, hella lighter and they don't tow/haul anything. I've seen a lot guys go aftermarket clutch well before hitting 10k odo.

Reverse is way too tall. Backing a trailer is miserable. Lots of clutch dragging to get moving.

Holy crap I didn't know others were having the same problem. My MT Rubicon overheated the other day while I was backing up my trailer. It's the second clutch since I got the first one swapped during the recall last year. Not sure what to do. Suggestions would be appreciated.

I agree. Running 37x12.50 tires and 5.13 gears and a Centerforce clutch which is way more grabby and less prone to stalling with a heavy flywheel but the reverse gear is still too tall/too fast. I use low range (Rubi 4:1) to back my trailer and it can be annoyingly slow and there will be some binding/hop but zero clutch manipulation and often very little gas required. It just goes.

This is exactly what I want! Awesome! So do you have a specific link because there's a lot of options!

Oooohhhh okay cool. Hey so how's the on road performance after changing to low range?
They are saying to get in position, shift to 4 wheel drive low, then reverse your trailer. Put in back to 2wd as soon as you are done.

4 low isnt meant for any extended dry street driving.

There's a lot of slang and acronyms, these things happen.

I run an ACT Promass clutch clutch, but havnt towed with it yet. It does reverse way nicer than factory though. My driveway is a hill, so I back up it everyday. Big difference from OEM.
