I have a 2024 Sport S Max Tow 4.10 ordered that'll come stock with 245/75/R17 wheels and I'm trying to figure out my upgrade path for wheels and tires.

Context:

I'm planning to build this out as an overlanding rig, most likely with one of the AluCab Campers and/or maybe a small off-road trailer (haven't decided). I'd also like it to be fairly capable off-road, maybe with some light rock-crawling with quick disconnecting sway-bars. I value the curb appeal of larger-than-stock tires, and I'm not too worried about a drop in fuel-efficiency since it won't be a daily driver and most of my trips will be under 2000 km return over 7-10 days. Though I do want to keep plenty of headroom in payload and/or towing over the stock set up.

The Plan:

I'm planing to give it the 2.5 inch Clayton Off-Road Overland or EVO Overland Lift Kits. I'd like to get to 35 inch tires on the 2.5 inch Lift, and as I understand it, the stock 245/75/R17 wheels have a +44 offset.

What I'm thinking for an upgrade is this:
  • Wheels: 17X8.5 -10 5X127MM 71.5MM (Black Rhino Outback)
  • Tires: 35X12.50R17LT E (BFGoodrich KO2)
Offset calculator is telling me it's sticking out 2.5 inches more than stock, which seems kind of excessive and makes me wonder if I've done something wrong. 35x12.5R17s on -10 offset wheels seems like a pretty standard upgrade path, so I'm surprised.

Jeep Gladiator 2024 Max Tow Wheel & Tire Upgrade Plan 1719790667985-7f

Anyway, two questions I guess...

1. Have I picked wheels/tires/lift compatible with each other and with my Max Tow?
2. Do those wheels/tires/lift makes sense given how I'd like to use my Gladiator?

Appreciate your input folks!

You do not have to upgrade wheels if you don’t want to.

I run factory wheels w 35x11.5r17’s.

Unless your after the poke look.

Excellent point, though I don't love the stock wheels. And yes, I don't want excessive poke.

I like the Mojave wheels on my Max Tow. Tires are 315/70r17. These are similar in size. Very little poke. This is no lift. Keeping springs but using 1.5 spacers front and .75 rear.

One thing you might want to consider is gearing. My truck is pretty light overall and did OK with 35’s and 4.10’s, but honestly could have benefited from gears with the 35’s since they were E rated and a smidge heavy. I’d your going to load it with a camper or pull a trailer, you’re probably going to want to consider 4.88’s for it if you plan to stay with 35’s. If you have any thoughts at all of 37’s, then I’d say 5.13’s.

yeah I'd avoid e rated tires on a gladiator. I have d rated 37s w/ 4.10s and its more than adequate. A C2 rated 35 is gonna be my go to when replacing the 33 on my daily set of wheels. regear standards on these new Jeep still blow my mind. In Toyota land 5.13 and 5.26 were for 42s! 4.88 was for 37s and 38s. Most other brands are running 3.73 or 3.93 and calling it a day. On 5~6 speeds no less. Perks of have an 8 speed i guess. You got enough overdrive range to go as deep as you want and not be screaming at 70 mph. wild.

I said the same thing with my C rated 37’s and 4.10’s, but now with the 5.13’s it’s a day and night difference in it. So much better acceleration without a penalty on the highway. Holds 7th and 8th all the time down on my runs to and from Northern Virginia for work. Its way more pleasurable to drive now.

yeah I didn't worry about it, with a pedal monster my 0-60 was only a 1/2 sec off of stock. So negliable imo. But now i have a 19.3 NOBO and 4.88s are starting to look real sexy right about now. I'm almost out of warranty so I'm shopping around. How much was your regear and who did it, if ya don't mind me asking?

What tires brand are your 37's?

Thanks. How are they with road noise at highway speeds?
They are the same as the stock wildpeaks. But i have heard some cases where they howl after a couple hundred miles. But usually warranty replacment issue as well.
