Yes goooood. By 2028 they will be discontinued, the electric ones will be worthless or on fire. and the hand full of gasser and especially the diesels will be worth some big bucks a few years after. Perfectly on track to end up with a highly sought after 4x4 icon collectible in 15-20 years.

Yeah big corporate is maddening alrighty :).

..never mind constant expansion of industry. Hb constant rate of economic growth being a central tenant of neo-classical economics (our/mine/your prevailing economics, like it or not).

Absurd!! And yet these idiots believe it is the goal.

But look let’s not beat up on economics as we know it too much after all it’s given us all a LITERALLY unlimited quality of life upgrade over that of our forebears.

And btw your country has been the most successful on the planet at this game of economics and LEADS THE WORLD (thankfully) bc of how well it’s done at said economics.

So be careful what you wish for!! (In terms of changes). They say in economics one change always has a minimum of two unintended consequences. Fyis.

Jeep just give us PHEV 2.0L T, PHEV 3.0L T, option on ALL GRADES, option of a flat light bed, steel wheels, delete chrome/leather option, drop the base being called “sport”, add a base spec “rugged pack” Cw hd springs/cooling/rear axle/payload, and finally stop referring this amazing platform as a damned “lifestyle” vehicle.

Bc not all of us are about “lifestyle”. Whatever the fk “lifestyle” is, I ain’t it.

I just like jeep trucks.
Well there is a difference between growth, progressing technology, and just greed. I think it is totally possible to have continued growth and expansion, but without upper management, CEO's and the like doing the bidding of vocal shareholders who want nothing more than better profit. Not saying that's necessarily the situation here, but it is the story around a lot of industry. The Boeing / Air Buss merger from years ago is an excellent example. Dad put in over 30 years at Boeing as the top NDT guy for the whole company. As soon as the merge happened, everything changed - and not for the good. It changed from a good company to work for to being all about cutting costs. And that doesn't necessarily mean a pass on economic growth either. I'm just talking about pumping the brakes a bit here. I dont know what it's like in Australia, or other countries - all my experience outside the US was not as a civilian so take it with a grain of salt, but SO many people here, practically everyone you meet, is burnt out. Especially those in public service positions. And a lot of that is because of the constant drive for 'more' 'faster' 'higher profits' etc... And that constantly increasing pressure drives managers and senior 'leaders' to constantly put more and more pressure on employees who are already experiencing burnout. To top it off, the economy 'seems' like it's doing ok but I can tell ya things the future looks pretty worrisome here. Not sure what other countries are experiencing though.

FCA Reports Second-quarter 2024 US Sales Results

Q2 2024 U.S. Sales Chart (pdf)
Doesn't help when a huge chunk of the sales in 2Q24 were leftover 2023's.

I can't imagine trying to restore an Ecodiesel anything in 30 years and trying to source niche parts for it lol.

I'd rather restore a Triumph or some other whackadoodle thing.
The beauty of Triumph ownership is that even after a full frame off restoration and replacement of all the dastardly Lucas electrics bits with the much improved quality of the cheapest lamp cable you can get at the hardware store, you'll still not want to drive it any further than you're willing to push it back home.

What’s work?
Taste is always subjective isn’t it? Fair enough to.

I like the look of the avenger. For that purpose / commuter I’d contemplate avenger. (Is that what it’s called? The little ev etc).

I hear you re eggs and sucked caramel cars. Yes.

It’s a dear name to me personally. Renegade. It’s a jeep hero. And I find it offensive in the basis of what the renegade originally was and …still is for some. I’ve got an 84.
The Cherokee was the one that killed me….I remember the adds claiming to be bringing back a classic with classic looks….and then I saw it. Pure rubbish. Absolutely embarrassing to compare that to an XJ. Far happier it’s gone over the renegade

What’s work?
Batten down the hatches. Recession is coming. These are tea leaves. I'm betting other manufacturers are seeing similar results.
And around the next corner is CBDC’s after the recession bottom falls out…..

They would sell a lot more if they remembered that most of their fan base can’t afford a new truck at the price they charge in an economy that is in the tank. Most of us would rather eat than have a new truck with payments greater than our house payment.

Jeep could boost sales of the Gladiator by putting a new poweplant in it to be competitive with the new Tacoma. They should develope an even smaller displacement 4 cylinder turbo, at or below 1.5 liters to get around 23/24 mpg. It's what all of us jeepers want, a 5000 pound plus truck with a tiny 4 cylinder turbo motor.

Please don't include me in that.

Wouldn't guess those sales numbers down here in the RGV (Rio Grande Valley). They are literally everywhere. I see an average of 4 for every mile driven. They're mostly Texas Trail editions, but not many '24's seen.
