Need some assistance on which year to buy

First of all, you're correct that the Gladiator is another poor sales year from being a collectible-- especially the 3.6. I'd go 2023, unless you really like the (very minimal) changes in the '24.

All that said, since money doesn't seem to be a factor for you (not a slam, just an observation), I'd consider waiting for the hybrid. More power, more practicality and likely a 1 or 2 year run before Stellantis fails or they chop a number of models from their lineup.

For those about to tell me "If I had a nickel for everyone who predicted the end of the Gladiator..." --the numbers don't lie. Corporations need money, and the Gladiator isn't making it, anymore.

If it was me I wouldn't buy the first year of the PHEV Gladiator. I have bought new vehicles for over 24 yrs. I learned never purchase the first year run of anything unless you like multiple trips to the dealer for recalls. I am so glad I waited till the 21's came out . The 2020's had all or most of the cam and lifter issues. I have just shy of 97,000 and mine still runs like a top. Buy the 26' model year PHEV or get the 2024 or 2023.

The thing about Jeep Gladiators (and Wranglers) is people often do bad mods. I typically buy used except Wranglers/Gladiators because of this. I don’t want to mess with bad lifts and wobbling. I would see if you can find a leftover 23 (for warranty purposes). You can probably find a great deal and at that point they worked out a few quirks. The added advantage is they have an antenna separate from the windshield (integrated means more $ when that get replaced) and I like the webbing in the back of the seats. I got a 23 Rubicon with only ten miles on it 16k off. The only issue was the electronics needed a little work due to it sitting at the lot so long, but I got a free extended warranty out of it. Basically you are best off getting the best 23 you can find. Use financing for negotiation and pay it off the next month. I found a 22 with almost everything I wanted with no miles, but I couldn’t get a clear answer on the warranty so I moved on. Let’s be real, these are not Toyotas. Warranties are a big deal.

That’s all fantasy man, they have been practically giving away ‘23s and good odds in ‘25 all the ‘24s they will happily give away again. I fear once the weird market finally adjusts to reality it will be far worse. These trucks aren’t exactly flying off store shelves. Maybe something far out like Lamborghini that’s a thing but with common folk stuff like a Gladiator not so much. Tell them cash or walk, buy private party, or just finance and then promptly vista the bank and end it.

I need to figure out why the sports have such a high MSRP on them. I think the Mojave would be my best bet for what I want it for. Camping, driving in town / highway.

Buy a rig in the southeast, sell it in the PNW, you'll make money pretty easily unfortunately. Prices in my area have not changed much since 2020

What's funny is I can sell my TJ and LJ for what I paid for them. I've owned the TJ over 12 years now. Granted the money of yesterday is not worth the money of today thanks to inflation. Still it's interesting.

I dont think any vehicle newer than the TJ will ever hold the value like the older Jeeps did. These new vehicles are so electronic now they're throwaway vehicles. I don't think you'll find anybody 'restoring' a 2020 Gladiator like they do a CJ or LJ. That being said. Find a deal that is acceptable to you financially and go for it. These are not vehicles based around financial decisions. They are vehicles for a lifestyle.

I understand what you're saying and would typically agree. But in this case, it's not really a first model year, though. Technically it is, theoretically it's not. The chassis is basically the same and they're dropping the drive train in from the Wrangler, which will have 3 years road testing.

Right and I have never bought a car brand new, but searching online I see some 23’s discounted a lot and then some not at all, same with 24s but not as much, some discounted pretty nicely and others not at all.

That’s a great idea and I am happy to travel anywhere in the U.S. I will contact them, I would rather have a deal negotiated first before traveling that far. Will check out their deals today.

Yeah I have seen post about staying away from Covid vehicles but mine was built 2020 think 9/2020 and I bought it in December 17th 2020 hadn't been on the lot for a week they told us. I believe it too cause my wife and I didn't remember seeing it several weeks earlier when we went by that lot. 3 weeks later we started hearing all that crap..
Mine is a 21 model JTR ..
Toughest most capable truck I ever owned.

So, I have been looking at this forum for about a week now.

I have found a Jeep a like a lot, it is the Avil color Night Hawk.

The dealer already told me the price is 2k more, since I won't be financing or trading in a car.

In saying all of this and please don't flame me, I know cars are not an investment (but I have turned my last one into an investment) and the one before that I bought, drove for 3 years and sold for the same price I bought it for.

So my question is from the group, what model / year do you think will devalue the least? To me I think it is obvious I would be better off picking up a slightly used 2020 - 2023, or even a heavily discounted 2023 new. Seems the biggest discounts on the 2023's that are still out there are Rubicons or totally built out Jeeps.

I just wanted to get some opinion on which direction I should go for depreciation hit. Thank you

That is one of the Sharpest Gladiators I've ever seen. I bought a 2021 new and do not care what the book value says. I'm keeping it. If you like the Anvil Gladiator Go buy it!

I’m not worried about 2k, I don’t like false advertising, also I am more worried about the depreciation over time. I also own 5 houses free and clear. I like to make smart financial decisions, I believe it has helped me acquire what I have quickly. I don’t like throwing unnecessary money away, meaning I want the least depreciation Jeep
