What’s work?
I don't understand the "minivan" engine as a dig. As though being in a mommyvan is a bad thing?

It is a corporate motor used in multiple vehicles. Just so happens the majority of what it was used in are now out of production and all that is left are minivans, Jeeps, and a single trim of the Ram 1500.

Guess the people that think that would really hate to know that a variation on the Mitsu motor that was found in the Voyager/T&C/Caravan back in the day was also in the 3000GT, Stealth, and others.

The Hurricane series of 4's and 6's are also a corporate motors. Are they bad now if they made it into a mommy van?
I’ve only listened to JK guys for years that opined about the 3.8, most who later moved onto the 3.6 like the new engine many much better. Personally I don’t have horse in this race. Got the JT, 4.0, 5.2, and 5.9 all in ZJs. I always think about those JK dude chats though when the better engine topic comes along.

Personally I’m holding out for the hybrid running off polar bear flatulence and safe space energy feeding a 500 cc motor with 17,000 pounds of batteries made from grass clippings and leftover Starbucks coffee grounds. All produced in China of course from the best child labor. Engine and batteries will cost $200 to make but can be had at local dealer for $20K. No towing though peeps, batteries will catch fire. I can only dream of this. You guys and your inline turbo things and V8 swaps, cannibals…

I'll wait for the "Ramcharger" system in a JT. Just a Pentastar hooked up to a generator, what could go wrong, LOL.

The batteries are South Korean design (Samsung). There are battery plants being built for Stellantis/Samsung in the U.S. and Canada.

Stellantis is pretty much all in on the electric vehicle, their investments in the expensive battery plants shows this.

Cherish your V-6 for as long as you can, it may be gone in a few years.

If the EV thing doesn't pan out for Stellantis, I think they put the American brands up for sale and tuck tail.

I'm losing faith in Carlos Tavares. We need another Sergio Marchionne. Chrysler is now to one vehicle. Dodge isn't doing anything wonderful. Ram and Jeep are doing good, but for how long?

Yup on the electric all in bit. Hell, Stellantis even has a large investment in an all electric VTOL aircraft manufacturer (Archer aviation). Not sure if it's to get access to their EV tech or if Tavares truly believes his statement of seeing Stellantis as a "mobility company" and is trying to diversify.

Ugh. apparently I can't link to the site of Mopar insiders.

I watched a recent interview with Tavares. He believes that in the next 10 years, there will be approximately 5 automotive companies left in the world, and he believes that Stellantis will be one of them.

Time will tell I suppose. Can't say I feel warm and fuzzy at all over his leadership. Seems like Stellantis North America is getting hollowed out between slimmed down product lines , to employee layoffs to rumors of their Auburn Hills Tower HQ even going up for sale since they've laid off so many engineers, etc.

I surely hope they continue to offer the V6 at a minimum. I'd love a V8....

The Tacoma's don't have a V6 option anymore. It's the 2.7L 4cy Turbo along with Hybrid versions (up to 6,500lbs towing)

The GMC Canyon (new generation) only comes with the 4cy 2.7L Turbo also - but I'm surprised they're still listing 7,700 lbs towing.

All these trucks going to 4cylinder's and electrics... No Thanks!
That's one of the main reasons why we bought the Gladiator.... the few (or only) midsize truck left with a 6cylinder.

I feel bad for anyone who didn't flee when they had the chance. Most of us did.

We cannot see down the road like the big corp leaders can. They have the info collected by many. New laws and regs along with the new leaders. I don't know what I don't know so I just do what I can for today. Is a JT with a 392 a wise choice, no, but it is fun. The wise choice will win in the long run. In the end, cash will be king.

I'd prefer to run mine on good intentions and unicorn farts as opposed to polar bear poots. Lower carbon footprint I hear.

FCA had enormous potential and Sergio knew it. When Cerberus was looking to sell off the parts of Chrysler he saw something better together.

Carlos is not Sergio. I wouldn't be surprised if Ram and Jeep survive as parts of GM, Ford, or another big maker and Chrysler and Dodge go the way of the dodo.
