Keep dreaming. If they release a V8 option, please ensure that I’m buried in it after my wife kills me. Or at the very least, put my ashes in the engine oil so I can be one with it 🙏🏾
I wouldn't want a v8 engine in the JT if it was given to me. Have you seen the terrible mileage of the YouTubers who have done those conversions? Maybe if got at a minimum the same mileage as current, but I would bet with a v8 it would go down the pooper. Even Brad constantly complained about mileage and he lives in California with a gas station on every block. I wouldn't even be able to make it to town and back without a fill-up with the kind of mileage Sean (TSTN) talks about getting. That's a level of 'cool' that just isn't worth it. Not practical. So much for overland trips unless you carry 30 gallons of extra fuel.

I don't understand the "minivan" engine as a dig. As though being in a mommyvan is a bad thing?

It is a corporate motor used in multiple vehicles. Just so happens the majority of what it was used in are now out of production and all that is left are minivans, Jeeps, and a single trim of the Ram 1500.

Guess the people that think that would really hate to know that a variation on the Mitsu motor that was found in the Voyager/T&C/Caravan back in the day was also in the 3000GT, Stealth, and others.

The Hurricane series of 4's and 6's are also a corporate motors. Are they bad now if they made it into a mommy van?
My engine is bigger and faster than yours. That's probably the hate for the 'minivan' engine.

I hope that's not true, steering rack implies ifs which would be the death of the Wrangler and gladiator in my opinion. I'll take the solid axle and any engine option over the I6 hurricane and ifs. Might as well just buy a wagoneer or bronco at that point.

I'd prefer to run mine on good intentions and unicorn farts as opposed to polar bear poots. Lower carbon footprint I hear.

FCA had enormous potential and Sergio knew it. When Cerberus was looking to sell off the parts of Chrysler he saw something better together.

Carlos is not Sergio. I wouldn't be surprised if Ram and Jeep survive as parts of GM, Ford, or another big maker and Chrysler and Dodge go the way of the dodo.
Unicorns yes but good intentions absolutely not. Couldn’t spin 37s at high elevation, need 14 catch cans to make up. Could we substitute it for Proper Pronouns?

That last part ya said about the way of the dodo….we’re wondering that at work. My “thing” place went all in on green, us field rats are waiting for the regular “thing” division to sell off to the equipment OEM. Break ups or extinctions are sooooo plausible.

I watched a recent interview with Tavares. He believes that in the next 10 years, there will be approximately 5 automotive companies left in the world, and he believes that Stellantis will be one of them.
And then 3…..and then a solid Soviet Union selection of 1. Oh I cant wait!

Yea, range is something that I actually do worry about after hearing what Shaun and Casey250 get mileage wise. I knew it would be bad, but jeez, we’re talking like 13mpg highway apparently. I can’t imagine what the consumption on the trail is. I wish the 5.7 Hemi swap was still offered by AMW.

To be fair though, they are on 40s I think. I’ll likely stop at 37s on this truck because of all the on-road travel I do.

Plus I do want to do longer overland style routes like Golden Road in Maine and Trans-Labrador Hwy in Canada. They aren’t super long routes but I’d like peace of mind without carrying a bunch of extra fuel like you mentioned.

I feel bad for anyone who didn't flee when they had the chance. Most of us did.
Glad to hear you made it out before the carnage. Mind if I ask where you landed? Automotive I assume…..

Yup, agreed. I feel like Stellantis is just going to kill off Chrysler. Dodge is weird though. I mean they’re investing a bunch on an ev Charger and they just brought the Hornet to market. So they are investing in Dodge.

13.5 is my average. that's what happens with a full 'overland' buildout and very steep terrain. I would be in the single digits with a V8 probably. No thanks.

Ram 1500 advertises 15/21 mpg. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad.

Uh, It is a minivan engine.........
I guess you don't know the real history of the 3.6 - used in Jeeps from year-one.

Here's some of the other stuff it's been used in since the very first year of production - besides your "minivans" -

2011–2023 Dodge Challenger (Models: SE, SXT, SXT +, SXT Rallye Edition, GT)
2011–2023 Dodge Charger (Models: SE, SXT, SXT +, SXT Rallye Edition, GT)
2011–2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee (Models: Laredo "E", Laredo "X", 70TH Anniversary Edition, Trailhawk, Altitude Edition, Limited, Overland, Overland Summit Edition)

I had the 5.7l in my gov truck (2500) at my old job. But tens of thousands of miles on it. Usually loaded it down with gear pretty heavy and of course behind locked gates all the time. I barely got 12 with it on the highway. If it was mostly empty it was able to get up to 15 or 17 here and there. I think my area is just too steep and too high of elevation for good mileage. Although my TJ gets about 13 and the LJ I think 18 but it's on 29's still. I envy those who can get in the 20's with their Gladiator on a weekend trip. Then again....maybe not because that would mean no mountains.

I just wish some one made a Supercharger that didn't kill it. But then it would have to be CARB approved. Just another 50HP and 50TQ would really make a difference. But for now I'll save my $$$ as the I6 with 420HP is on the way by 2?

I live at 7,000' feet and drive at high elevation quite often. My Rubicon is an EcoDiesel, but I oftentimes average between 25 - 26 mpg with mountain driving.

The video I watched actually stated “steering column” not rack, apologies. It clearly sated the I6 will fit anywhere the current V6 is in application but would be mated to the 8spd as standard and no MT would be available. Man it sounded convincing.

I am all over the place. My dealer would love to sell me a 23, should I wait for the 2025 4Xe or the potential for an I6. ugh… If only I knew what MY 2025 will bring I could make a decision.
